We must be cr*pping ourselves about FFP if everyone else is spending mega dosh and we are not (oh the irony).
When you sell your best assets, go quiet on the new stadium/training ground and try to appease the fans with a 'new badge' (when that is not a priority), then something is not right. Actually, when the plans and video's come out of the new OOC and you are not even mentioned.
This is more likely, we are now in a period of austerity and will be for a few years to come...... At least we've now lost the "Big Spending" tag to Boro, Derby & Burnley haven't we? The only thing is that I have yet to see such a moniker associated with those clubs......funny eh?
I think we are Ellers, not sure any of the owners have learnt any lessons but with a Hoos in charge of the purse strings there won't be anymore "named" signings for a while.......
QPR bidding for Wigan midfielder Emyr Huws to 'replace Sandro'. Always sad to see a physio table unoccupied. Bid for the Bordeaux striker Enzo Crivelli rejected.
We do seem to have gone from one extreme to the other with our transfer policy and are now doing our business in the bargain bucket, personally I don't mind that. I'm sure we had a reputation for being a soft touch in the transfer windows.
The worry i have is replacing quality/ability with inexperience. Hunger and passion will only get you so far. Take Mackie, always gives 100% but lacks quality and ability. I would always welcome players with less experience and would give them time to grow but i would not risk our future on wholesale changes. We must not sell everyone and replace them with inferior players. However, we have gone from buying in Harrods to Poundland. Why could we not have gone to Sainsbury's?
Finding hidden gems and polishing up rough diamonds is the way to establish a foundation ala Southampton ,Leicester,Bournemouth, palace over the last few seasons...it can be done with the right scouting team and hard work and dedication!
Think my pre season target of finishing 14th, moving away from stupid contracts and starting to feel we're being run like a proper football club is beginning to look achievable. That for me would be a decent basis from which promotion within a 5-10 year period could be both realistic and sustainable. However......WE ARE QPR......
I don't think we are anywhere near losing that moniker, most people I speak to seem to think we still have a squad of PL big names.
