"Wolf! Wolf!"

Out watching the Spain game with a friend of mine tonight. Some interesting little titbits.

He just came back from a week's golfing in Spain where he met Howard Wilko one day and then SG the next. SG stated that the atmosphere at Huddersfield is electric, happy people, totally different to LUFC. Also, he hardly ever had a penny to spend at LUFC, and he only spent £500k last year. The company concentrated too much on the stadium.

The next titbit was that my mate is friends with a guy that works for LUFC (ie direct contact) who says:

a) Bates has not been seen at ER for months because he is ill
b) Bates is ready to sell up because the cost base built and the alienation of the fans means he can't service it - ie, he is aware not enough money is coming in
c) Because Bates has made it clear through a number of avenues that he is keen to sell, the delay is not due to due diligence with one company, but is due to the large number of people who have expressed a desire to purchase the club.
d) Because Bates is ill, most of the work is being done by Harvey. Bercause Harvey has been at the club for so long, he is keen to ensure that it is sold to someone who has the best interests of LUFC at heart, not selling to some joker aka Portsmouth.
e) But because Harvey is doing a lot of th negotiation but he does not have control, there are delays as Bates makes decisions and some things Harvey can not decide upon.
f) It is definitely about selling up. Bates knows he can't bankroll the club this year. But apparently, he is trying to do his damnedest to ensure that the people who do buy the club do have the best interests of the club at heart, and they wil not just be looking at selling the club on in a year or two for a quick buck (aka Pompey)

In other words, it could take a long while, and Bates may pop his clogs before it happens, but even though the current regime have completely screwed it all up, they are keen to make sure that they don't just sell to any Tom Dick or Harry.

I am seeing them in a slightly wamer glow at the mo.

Certainly hope that is the case. Easy to see why there is a better atmosphere though. They have now reached their holy grail. Know they have no chance of ever seeing the Premiership except on tv. Leeds however, are a long way from where we should be, and couple with our clown of a chairman, it's difficult how there could be any better an atmosphere at Elland Rd than we currently have. One press announcement could signal a massive change in the fans mood

Apologies if you have heard all this before but I'm just signed up here and haven't had chance to read through the posts.

I recently met with business partners of Bates. There is a takeover bid in play, seems to be a difference in opinion on valuation between Bates and the Americans. Not heard that Bates is ill, indeed he met with said business partners in the last month. They made a point of saying what an excellent businessman he was and I suggested that there'd be a few Leeds' fans with an entirely different point of view. The most concerning issues from my conversation were that they were not convinced the deal would happen and also that if it did, there might be a sting in the tail. I suggest that this might, if the takeover happens, be the timing of the deal. After all, there is little love between our Chairman and the club/supporters.

Two points I find hard to believe about any of this:
1) If their were numerous parties interested someone would have leaked a story to the press, a little like when you express an interest in a player and you attempt to get fans on your side, I find it hard to believe that there really are numerous parties involved.
2) Not even for a fraction of a second do I believe Bates would have any interest in the fans or the club, highest bidder gets it no matter who it is. Can't really understand Elmo why you would believe this point either?? Bates has no love for Leeds Utd or the fans.

I have some facts.

Despite the size of ears the elephant’s hearing is poor
African elephants have bigger ears than Indian elephants
African elephants ears are used to aid ventilation
One of the softest parts of their body is at the back of the ears, which is called the knuckle. Elephant trainers, called Mahouts, use their feet to steer or give commands to the animal via the knuckle at the back of the ears
The name of an adult male is referred to as a bull
The name of an adult female is referred to as a cow
The name or offspring, or a baby Elephant, is a calf
The average size of a litter is just one elephant
The collective name for a group of Elephants is a herd
The sounds made by an adult Elephant are referred to as grunts, purrs, bellows, whistles and trumpeting

Facts about the Size of Male African Elephants
A fully grown adult reaches the height of 10 - 13 feet
Adult African elephants weigh about 15,400 pounds

Facts about the Size of Male Indian Elephants
A Fully grown adult reaches the height of 10 feet
Adult Indian elephants weigh about 11,000 pounds

The elephant is the largest of all land mammals
Life Span - elephants can live for up to 70 years
Elephants normally walk about 4 mph
Elephants are able to swim for long distances
Elephants spend about 16 hours a day eating
They consume as much as 495 pounds of food per day
They live in tight social units led by an older matriarch
Males leave the herd between the ages of 12 and 15
Their tusks are of ivory and are actually enormously enlarged incisors
The elephant's eyes are small and its eyesight is poor
They have the largest brains in the animal kingdom

Orangutans are found in Indonesia and Malaysia on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra.

There are two species of orangutan - the Sumatran orangutan (Pongo abelii) and the Bornean orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus).

Orangutans are a species of great ape along with gorillas, chimpanzees and bonobos.
The great apes are a group of mammals that all have large brains, forward-facing eyes and gripping hands.
Humans are also great apes.
In fact we share 96.4% of our genetic makeup with orangutans!
Apes and monkeys are both primates.
The easiest way to distinguish between monkeys and apes is to look for a tail.
Apes don’t have tails where as most monkey species do.
In the wild, orangutans may live up to 45 years or more.
The oldest captive orangutan was a male called “Guas” at the Philadelphia Zoo who lived until he was 58!
Orangutan means ‘person of the forest’. It comes from the Malay words ‘orang’ meaning people and ‘hutan’ meaning forest.
Arboreal means tree-living. The orangutan is the largest arboreal animal in the world and is well adapted for life in the trees.
The orangutan can grasp branches with both its hands and feet and has very mobile shoulder and hip joints. Both these features help the orangutan to travel through the forest canopy.
Orangutans make and sleep in a new nest every night.
