Brett starred in the second episode of the Channel 4 show about people with challenging conditions. The 21-year-old from Bristol has learning difficulties and told the Evil Post: âI was very ecstatic and excited about taking part â it was like static electricity.â The audience saw Brett meeting Jackie at a speed dating event for people with learning difficulties. He took her out twice and was won over by her âgrace and eleganceâ and âmesmerisedâ by her eyes â but she just wanted to be friends. However Brettâs gentle demeanour and attempts to âwooâ her with love poems and chocolate won over the audience. He wrote Jackie eight poems, and told her by text that he loved her â before their first date. âMaybe I shouldnât have rushed in feet first,â he said. âIf I could reverse the polarity of the neutron flow, like Doctor Who always says, and go back in history, I think I would be a lot cooler.â The show has faced some criticism for allegedly demeaning the participants, who included people with facial disfigurements or conditions like Tourettes. Well, I think thats ****ing great!
