I loved my Golf when I had it, my wife's car is the 3 series so when I had my options I was really torn between the 1 series and the Golf. But choose the BMW just because it has the Idrive so it had a few more toys. But the Golf, had £1500 worth of alloys on it when I went to see it as it just came back from a VW show and the garage said it was putting the other's back on it to sell it. So I had to have it as it was! got them for a grand the bastards saw me coming but it was well lush.i did kerb them and **** them up Then the company went back to giving company cars. Don't blame you most people have a Golf don't normally go to others after. German cars are the way forward
Yeah they are great cars. Only trouble with mine is its a 1.4, its quick but not fast, Would love a bigger engine but the insurance will go sky high, Cant wait until im 21 so the insurance gets reduced. Paid £1132 this year for Insurance so has to go to at least 600-700 next year. I love VWs but the only other car make ill ditch it for is AUDI, Had my eye on a AUDI TT for a while now, Think ill save for one of them soon. Has to be Black or White though. My golfs white but a pain in the ass to keep clean
My wife's Beemer is white, but believe it or not black cars need to be cleaned regurly as well. They say silver is the best for not showing the dirt. Mine's Red and my Golf was as well, I had the 2.0 GT Tdi which went like ****, I would never have petrol not had one since 2005 and won't again, Diesels are just as quick if not quicker up to 2L then petrols take over. My wife's has a top end 146 and 0-60 in 7 seconds it's a 320d mine is 138 and 7.7 as its the 118d and both are auto's now because my wife's knee is ****ed waiting for her 3rd op and my back is shot so they are easier for both of us. I liked to Audi's A3 but that is just the Golf under a different badge. You can tart a Golf up better And Jags are great as well

Depends on how you want to drive, on mine you have normal auto, sports auto, flick manual plus you have an additional button to change settings in all three of the options from either comfort to sport mode. And if you want to drive like a **** you have Eco mode to save fuel. When you hit the button the settings on the car suspension changes and the steering gets heavier in sport mode plus it allows higher rev's before changing. I use it on junctions when they are busy. Flick into sport auto and sport mode and it flys like ****. Now is all that boring? But that's what I had in the Golf but I think mk 5 it was a 05 model had it for 3 years longest I ever had a car. I get bored and swap with people in work if it's company cars What's with the new signature?
Not at all but I love driving in manual, Not had the opportunity to have buttons and do dahs to enhance the cars performance, Only my 5 gears.
I do miss the gears to get the feel of the car, but after my wife's last op which was a year ago today she can't bend her knee and it's her left leg so to this day she would not be able to use the clutch! She should be having her next one early next year to cut away the scar tissue to enable her to bend her knee again, at the moment her thigh muscle is wasting away as its not being used to much. And she is in constant pain. So when you have a knee injury when your young don't just think its a sprain as she has had to have cartilridge an ligament reconstruction, just from coming down too heavy when she was serving in a tennis match
