Paris Saint Germain boss was identified by Sir Alex Ferguson as his first-choice successor, after the 71-year-old Scot announced his decision to retire at the end of the season.

However, Ancelotti politely declined the invitation to take over at Old Trafford, as the Italian holds out for another offer - from Real Madrid - to replace Jose Mourinho at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

Last Minute Moyes 'The nearly chosen one' take a bow son.:emoticon-0103-cool:

This is not news. First Jose turned it down, then Carlo and after that they had the choice of Moyes or Pulis. They'll wish they'd gone for Pulis in the end <party>

Not really. United chose Moyes and turned down the option of Mourinho. His face just would not have fitted and he is too selfish and too self promoting <ok>

Yes really. I don't know why you lot keep denying it. Everyone else knows it's true. You just look a bit silly with these denials.

This is brilliant. I never realised Chelsea fans were that thick to believe any garbage published by the media with no actual quotes from the people involved. The believe anything expect that Jose was fired by Roman. Lol get ready for firing number two!!!

Mutual consent, both Chelsea and Madrid. Ask either of the clubs and they will tell you they asked Jose to vacate the building and Jose said ok.

Is this true? Roman re employed a man he sacked? It must surely have been a last resort and after trying to recruit all the continental top managers. <whistle>
