Most of the mad names are from either the late 1960s when the drugs led to names like, Strawberry Alarm Clock, Crocheted Donut Ring or Electric Prunes and in the punk to post punk period from 1977-1986, when some bands recorded under the names: Radiators From Space, Cleaners From Venus, Marshmallow Overcoat & the rather too famous, Teardrop Explodes. But some recent-ish bands are sort of carrying on the tradition:- Alligator Crystal Moth, Neutral Milk Hotel, Senile Crocodile. Another band gigging at the same time as the admittedly well named Dead Kennedys were the Butthole Surfers who recorded the album 'Locust Abortion Technique' Quiet night on the transfer front leads to this!
