Didn't say it was anything to do with fatman. Was being overly negative, but i'm not sure we'll ever be at the top table. Bit fanciful to think with new owners we'll end up bigger than Man U or Bayern, etc.!! Let's just try and be a stable PL club with a decent team, and hope we get Lascelles as part of that for as long as possible.
Like Southampton?! Everyone's for sale, mate, until you support Real, Barca or Bayern. What I was more concerned about was this - the big clubs monopoly on future talent is going to really, really hit any chance of fairness ever again. Liverpool are about to pick up £130m for Coutinho which means they got VVD for free with £60m change. If that cycle keeps going you've got a select few clubs able to keep hoovering up decent talent, with the odd one or two going for megabucks already belonging to a traditionally 'bigger' club. If Spurs ever needed to, Kane could be sold for £150m. Arsenal, if they'd wanted, could have got £70m for Sanchez. Liverpool still have Firmino and Sane. Man U have Pogba, Rashford. Where would the rest of the league pick up megabucks? Feels like the game is spiralling out of control, very very quickly. Not to oblivion, but a Euro "Super" League has got to be within 5 or 6 years now.
Might not be the worst thing in the world - let the mega rich **** off and play their "Super League" or whatever and leave the rest to get on with it If we lost Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd - the remaining clubs would be in a far more competitive league with a chance of actually winning something - sure, you'll still have "haves" and "have nots" but the differences would be way more realistic. Sure, any significant talent is going to be hoovered up pretty quickly, but that's happening anyway All the plastic fans can watch their new Mega Sonic League (TM) from the comfort of their armchairs, real fans can go back to watching competitive football - everyone's a winner
