Reckon he might be after hefty wages too. We were talking to him in January about a move (this was confirmed by McLeish) and I think the wages are what went wrong
I think he's a good player, he's always impressed when I've seen him (which I admit is hardly week in week out) but he looks good, and it's well known we suffer at dead ball situations, so he would unquestionably improve our squad. More options in the middle of the park in a variety of positions can only be good- for example if Hendo needs a rest mentally, like this season, plug Colback in the middle and Seb on the right. As for high wages- wouldn't bother me in the slightest, since he's free. If he wants 10k a week over what we'd value him at (say he wants 45k instead of 35k) - thats 10k x 52 = £520k, over 4 years- basically the equivalent of a £2m fee, spread over 4 years. Still a bargain in my book.
Squad player at best, I dont think he will be anywhere near the first team next season until our injury crisis resurfaces
