True, but LJ got the best out of those 3, especially Reid (cue RP saying it was forced on him) and turned them into valued assets. None of them looked like multi-million-pound players under SC!
This is the foundation of the future .. I have mentioned similar before........... Didnt look at the author of the peice as WIZ has kindly printed whole thing but whole context, rightly or wrongly is his [ not wiz's ]opinion and translation of events. I posted previously why this is not always profitable ... using COD? as the reference point. [ unless the player you get rid of attracts a good fee ] Note: Based over a decade? and a lot going on that reduced potential income, figure is accountants interpretation! [ If you have ever done your own accounts you will know what is procedure ] not really as bad as that! worst case scenario!
He struck lucky in Reid it came off and fair play to him on that front. But Reid looks so much better in the Fulham side. Strange as he gets more game time to Joe Bryan who was the better player at Ashton Gate.
Bryan suffered under Parker who throttled his attacking play. We all know JB wasn't the best defender, he was much better going forward
Even if they were GJ's choice, do YOU honestly think that they were the best options available to a club who were top of the Championship going into 2008 ? Because I don't buy it.
Although I missed a huge gap in City's development in the late 70's and 80's due to total lack of info out here in the colonies I fear for the future of our club despite the tenure of Lansdown as our owner. SL has invested huge amounts of his money to keep us going but some of his decisions over those years have beggared belief and unfortunately that bad bird will come back to haunt you at some future date. I don't want to get blasted if I dare mention certain managers but let's face the hard truth in that Lee was hired by Lansdown because he was cheap, and eventually nasty, but his partnership with Mark Ashton appears to be our biggest downfall. Having an owner with Steve Lansdown's high profile in the money business should be a good indication of how he would run the club and I think his model of supposed self sufficiency and sustainability was spot on the mark and yet here we are discussing an upcoming financial update that may rip our hearts out. I truly think that the money being paid to these players is way beyond sensibility and is an insult to the people who put up their hard earned money to watch absolute continuous dross and are then expected to get excited about the prospect of another season drifting in the wind going nowhere. I am absolutely shocked that a man with the supposed business acumen of Steve Lansdown has allowed our club to get in such a mess and regrettably he is the one who has to carry the heavy burden of who and what we are. The decisions made during our usual drab performances and results are all down to him and the fact that he has had troubles spotting a decent, and probably expensive, manager are down to his ego and sad lack of seeing the real picture. Expecting someone from the bargain basement to take you to the top is usually only seen in fairy tales and I am troubled that the next chapter might see us fall down a massive rabbit hole to nowhere.
news now in ..its PREMIER FOODS, they are concerned SL will have no Gravy for his festive meals so are putting in case of Bisto ..... damn cat been on the baily's again got it mixed up !
