Ashamed of suspecting Sky? Doping has always been rife in cycling and to believe things have changed is naive to say the least. History shows otherwise, it's medical technology that takes time to catch up as retesting of recent samples shows. Libellous! Read a few threads here and have a lie down: http://forum.cyclingnews.com/forumdisplay.php?f=20
How about Sky hiring a convicted doping doctor but not publishing it on their site where all the other staff are shown. Why would they want to do that? Go to the cycling forums, theres several hundred pages of talk about it. Just as everyone who knew Armstrong was a cheat but couldnt prove it at the time. Im sure the same will be known about the sky riders in the 10 years times
This article is pretty damning, scroll down to see the top five in each year that Armstrong won, you'll have difficulty finding anyone who could be awarded the race on his disqualification... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/ot...e-titles-deciding-contest-doping-charges.html
No surprise that the cycling world is all in a tiz particularly in the USA. Wiggins has seriously upset the establishment by proving that track cyclists can make the transition and even surpass the traditional road pros if the playing field is level and, worse still, he comes from that 'minor cycling nation' (Le Monde, June). If you can't manage to respect a sporting achievement that is possibly the very greatest by a Brit in recent years then at least afford the guy the same right as every one else in a free society - innocent until proven guilty. Shameful that we can only manage to cast doubt on a true national hero - what would the French or Americans be doing right now?
Even if I say so myself one of the best and most interesting threads for weeks and not a mention of our beloved RRRR's.
Facts show that Le Monde spoke the truth when it called the UK a minor cycling nation. Apart from Tom Simpson with a win in a Milano - Sanremo plus a Giro di Lombardia plus a Tour of Flanders and then Cavendish with a single Milano - Sanremo no other UK cyclist has won one of the major classics for over 50 years. By winning the bulk of the events for the second Olympics running and having the first ever Brit winner of the Tour we can safely say that the cycling world has changed this Summer. Britain is now a major player and Wiggins is a genuine national hero. You're not French by any chance are you?
My father was born in France but I'm not nor have ever been French. To me it's, as the Americans say, "flyover country".
