Great news this. It's a shame all this Chamberlain business seems to overshadowing it. He'll be a very valuable player next season even if he doesn't score many from open play.
Ricky looked very happy in the interview on Player, as he should. Talking about the great games coming in the Championship and hoping to sign another contract when we get to Premiership. Nothing like starting the season with some confidence, though he did say half the teams must be hoping for promotion. Talks about the preseason in Switzerland which he's been told by Nicola will have even better facilities than before. Also says that if we don't get anyone new in, it doesn't matter because we have a strong squad. Roughly what Adkins said, so toeing the party line. Hopefully, we'll have more to talk about over the coming weeks now they are back in training.
Much better preparation this time around. This coming season is going to very exciting. We've got a lot to smile about.
The modern footballer can't get away with the pie and chips diet any more. Reading Le God's book, I'm surprised he didn't have a stroke, let alone play Premiership football. Football at the top is so fast and furious that players need to look after themselves to keep up.
Really pleased....Lambert got taken for granted a little last season with Lallana & Chamberlain earning the plaudits. The only question mark on whether he can make it at this level is pace and I sometimes think too much emphasis is pushed on that attribute....N'Guessan has pace.
Hi lads. Just joined the site (I know, what took me so long!). I was on Ja606 but it's completely dead! Have to say that this site is pretty sound and hopefully I'll enjoy it even more than the old 606 (before it was ruined by WUMs). Just want to say how delighted I am about Rickie getting 3 year deal with us. He has been brilliant for us and it seems he was underated last season. I think his all round game is such an improvement as most other fans would agree. He really shows how much he loves it here too. Next season will be a test for him but I bet he is relishing it and I can't wait to see how he gets on
I remember hearing Rickie on talkSport discussing his diet pre-Saints. Did sound remarkably similar to Tiss'. Think Saints gave him a bit of a kick up the backside. This picture did make me Lol. Looking a bit chunky there. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/34/Rickie_Lambert.jpg/180px-Rickie_Lambert.jpg
Rickie has come back for preseason looking slimmer than ever (see OS and Player). To not put on weight over your holidays shows professionalism and dedication, something I've never had
That rarest of things, an unselfish goalscorer. He will score 15 plus but he will assist far more than that.
Good one, Fran. Though, by the end of the season we'll see how much that + get's stretched to the point where it might have been better to mention a higher total, in the first place. From this position, 25 goals in not out of the question. Oops, I mean 20+..! Bit of trivia: When Martin Chivers played for Saints in the top division, during one 42 game season, he scored 30 goals. All of them before January the 1st.
