Have to say, I'd take the penalty. Let's face it, how am I going to change it, if it happens..? However, it would be a bit of a hollow feeling. Much like Celtic or Rangers supporters reacting to their respective teams winning the Scottish Championship every other season. I mean, what can you do..? I'd rather we won fairly, but..!
On the Echo site there is a piccy of Ashdown tackling Lala, just before actual contact, but it looks inevitable that there was going to be contact, not obviously intentional, have a look and judge for yourself. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/9637813.Pictures_from_Saints_v_Portsmouth/
On the OS Gallery pictures 8 and 9, not good enough to make any assumption other than Lala is completely off balance in 9 whether through contact or not isn't clear. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/Gallery/0,,10280~2726953,00.html
He appealed to the ref for a penalty, it was a dive there's no doubt about it. It was very disappointing to see someone with such skill having to lower himself to diving.
Love Lallana and he has great flair but if he is to go down the diving route i suggest he puts in some practice as it was a pretty shabby attempt at winning a pen and he made himself look a twat if he was thinking about a dive he should have done it at the point of any possible contact the delayed reaction was pathetic and he probably should have been cautioned. Not saying i would not be chuffed to gain advantage from such a situation but come on this was laughable
It was a hairy one and no mistake. Perhaps this thread should be merged with the Rocha one, as they both need to look at how they conduct themselves on the field.
Yeah he does go done easy. On the other hand, he played a cracking game apart from that one regreattable incident. There's no doubting his passion or his talent. The goalie did catch him and if he'd gone done straight away it might have been a penalty but he stayed on his feet and went down about two paces later. Pompey scored two good goals from outside the box. It wasn't bad defending that did for us, it was two good strikes, the kind that you don't see every game. It's just a shame they fell to Pompey against us, but better them than Reading. Those kinds of goals won't happen every game and if we play with the intensity that we played in the derby we'll easily beat Palace and Reading.
Agreed. I remember the last time he dived, can't remember who it was against but I think it was away, he got up and apologised as he was getting booked. Lack of progress here, can only assume his absolute passion to win got the better of him. Shame because thought he played well yesterday (attackingly at least)
Just got back from Lallana's house. Have broken both his legs and stamped on his cat to teach him a lesson. No one and I repeat, no one, messes with the Not606-indignant-holier-than-thou-possee
A small piece of redemption at London Road, could have went down, didn't, stayed on his feet & got the ball into a dangerous position for us to score. Maybe Nige had a word, maybe Adam didn't like the replay of said dive, but it certainly deserves a mention.
Thought you were bumping this to write about Drogba HR. If he played for Barca there would be public outrage.
Never seen a grown man hit the deck so often! Cringe. Shame, he's a good player, but the acting is terrible!
Agree on both counts HR, I too was heartened to hear of Lallana staying on his feet at Peterborough, and, well, the less said about Drogba the better...
Are you forgetting Jurgen Klinsmann..? Copy and paste that name into Google and the first prompt you get from Google's predictive text is DIVE.
