That was also crazy money. Shaw's a good LB, but he's never worth that sort of dosh

think that's why a lot of us are confused in the effort made to get him.

price isnt his fault, but spending £25 mill on a player, you expect them to improve your first team, for me he just strengthens the bench.

I think he plays instead of Coutinho who then has to fight his way back into the team, Coutinho needs to be more consistant and be able to last the 90 (something Lallana gets stick for) but having them both to chose from is great imo.

It might be Rodgers 'playing safe' as at least he knows what he's getting with Lallana. As his forays into the European market have (Coutinho aside) been poor, with Assaidi, Aspas, Alberto etc all being pretty meh.

  7. Maybe the move and step up is what he needed too though? Maybe we'll see a much improve Lallana next season? Of course, the alternative is Downing mkII <laugh>

  8. Definitely agree with this. Coutinho has been hot and cold so perhaps needs competition to push him forward. Coutinho is a great player for certain games too, he's not suited to them all.

Crazy money indeed, but Southampton took full advantage of us and the mancs and good luck to them.

Rodgers showed them his hand to early when he improved his first offer immediately after they knocked the initial offer back and they knew we are desperate to improve our squad with CL footy back on the agenda next season.

They also were aware of the reported £150m warchest available to Van Gaal and his desperate need to improve Utd's **** squad and Saints got a massive 30m.

£55 Million on 2 players that have done nothing at the World Cup between them!

Its bloody madness! You boys must have more money than sense!

Coutinho (spelling) is twice the player and he hasn't reached his peak yet! <yikes>

    good point <ok>

get 60-70 mins out of both each game before being subbed, and good enough replacement for the other.

dont understand why we havent looked at doing that with gerrard yet, dont know about everyone else but for me he looks ****ed after about 60-70 mins, yet most of the time plays until the whistle, need an option for him.

I wonder how much James Rodriguez will be once the World Cup is over!

If you are going on the Lallana fee it must be over £100 Million!

  14. I don't think it would have mattered when he showed his hand, Southampton didn't need or want to sell. In fact, if anything, waiting could have been worse. If we had waiting until after the Shaw deal was complete before showing our hand then Saints might have had a higher opening figure since they needed money even less.

    Lallana £25m
    Shaw £27m - £31m

You're expecting Shaw to flop then?
