Agree. Lallana could also add 10 or more goals from midfield. The only goals we get more midfielders these days are from Gerrard penalties. Henderson, Coutinho and Allen goals are few and far between. Goals from midfield can make a big difference. Lallana's crossing is very good to. Better than any one in our current squad.
Hope we are still in for him! Different type of player but very good. Shaquiri and Moreno are musts, for me.
Which is the better deal do we think, Lallana or Shaw? I'd go for Shaw, really rate him and I think United have a quality LB for the next 12 years there.
I posted exactly that somewhere on here. He's fine if we're 2 - 0 up, but he's a show-pony, not a game-changer <ok?
Completely overpriced - Coutinho is statistically better than Lallana from an offensive POV bar goals. Coutinho plays deeper, has to work harder because he doesn't have two powerful mids behind. Lallana will be a good player to rotate with but I expect more for £25m. Lazar Markovic is an exciting talent that we've been linked with.
I'm with you on this one, the more I think about it the less it makes sense at that price. Paying the extra millions for the "English player tax" when there are other similar (and younger and better) players around seems weird.
Yeah, it's strange but Rodgers is clearly desperate to sign him. At 26, he is pretty close to his ceiling of potential and is he better than Coutinho or Sterling? Not convinced really. However, I do think he is a good player who will work hard and fit into the current style - plus he has a good relationship with the England lads. But anyways, he's pretty much a Liverpool player so we'll support him.
This. As I said, it's not that I don't rate him, just that I think he's overpriced. That's not his fault, though.
There is no doubting that should Lallana sign for us he will get the support and backing he deserves. Maybe the honeymoon period won't last as long because of the price but hopefully he can hit the ground running. Only concern for me is where Coutinho stands. I have a feeling that Brod isn't his biggest fan (keeps subbing or benching him) and suspect Lallana will be played ahead of him. Still, its a squad game and this makes for good competition.
thing is for me its both the price, but like you said not his fault, and he is not an improvement on what we have, yes it strengthens the bench and good for rotation, but the price should be someone who is quality and walks straight into the first team. i thought we was buying players to improve the first team not the bench?
£25 Million for a player with only 2 years Premier League experience and no experience of Champions League Football! Someone somewhere is having a right old laugh!
SSN reported this morning that it'll be done later today, passed medical and fee agreed, just finishing up last few bits of paperwork.
Very true, but Someone somewhere is doing a laughing policeman impression at at the £30m man yoo have paid for a player with less experience in the game than Lallana.
He's an 'honest' player, doesn't appear to have a big ego and his workrate is high. Scores goals and is tidy in possession. Is he a £25m, £100k per week player? Not a chance imo, as I don't think he really improves your first XI and for that sort of money, you need more than just another body similar to what you've already got.
