All mega-rich businessmen are ruthless, they have to be. Mittal won't be held to ransom as he knows the club's value will fall rapidly as the stand-off continues. It depends whether Bernie is prepared to let us crash and burn so he doesn't lose face. At least we have seen positive input from the Mittal camp last season and that's the big difference between them and the Goons.

Apologies, out of the game yesterday so couldn’t reply to some very good posts on this issue.

Mittal is coming across as a manipulator of governments and/or their ministers. He is also one who looks to exploit weak situations to gain substantial advantage. He’s that bad, he even turned his back on his parental family!

Let’s just say that we can now all see that, as Eamon says, QPR are currently owned by two reprehensible billionaires.

As Rs fans there’s nothing much we can do about that. There are certainly no other wannabe owners, let alone ones of better repute, to consider.

So it’s back to the main thrust of these considerations: ‘in what ways would you say that Mittal as owner represents a threat to our club?’ Answer: his record shows he has the capacity to turn his back on us and do anything that suits him at any time.

Bit like the Goons then - and, traditional fans apart, just about everyone else associated with or affected by the commercial elements of the game. The truth is, like any other club, QPR will remain vulnerable to the whims and fancies of owners, staff, managers, players etc.. It’s a fact of life, simple as…

So out of the two (reprehensible) contenders for ownership, do we pin our hopes for a successful future on the Goons or Mittal?

For me it’s a no brainer. The Mittals have consistently acknowledged us fans and the Goons have equally consistently shown contempt.

Interesting that the notion of the Mittal’s vision for the club, their actions in the boardroom, at games at meetings with fans and in the community suggests to some a cynical ploy to get the fans onside… The Goons wouldn't dream of doing anything to 'soften' the fans up; they don’t even see us as a factor in the equation and continue to carry out their extremely destructive plans despite us.

So, for me, if it all goes to the wire, the use of the Indian flag in protests at games, still symbolises HOPE - and an ego boost to the Mittals. Mittal has said that he doesn’t see a football club as a business but as entertainment...

Here’s hoping they retain their interest in Rangers and regard the club as a pet project as opposed to yet another cash cow.

At the end of the day we should thank our lucky stars that hope is a positive something we still have.

A well reasoned arguement Brixton but where has it been factually stated that the Mittal consortium will be sinking any more funds into the signing of players any more than Flav & Bern are?

There is a lot of 'pinning of hopes' on the Mittals Brix yet for me the jury is still out. They appear more committed on the surface but don't forget Flav & Bern are effectively subsidising the losses month on month.

Mittals have good PR, Flav & Bern don't - there's a lot in that in itself.

You can bet your life Eccles has good PR, WBA2, he just doesn't use it where the fans are concerned - because as far as he's concerned, fans just aren't relevant. At best, we are potential customers, just like the rest of the 60-70 million population. The Mittals do seem to want the goodwill of the fans, and as said above, during the whole of last season, gave an uncannily convincing appearance of being genuine fans, both of football and QPR...

Thanks WBA2 (just had a tasse de the et trois biscuits!).

When it was publicised that Mittal would be buying the Goons out, a £50m investment for transfers was mooted - but that's hardly factual and I have not mentioned it on this thread.

Also, I very much doubt that the Goons are personally absorbing club losses... it's more likely they're underwriting them and will be using the prem funds and raised ticket revenue to sort the debts going forward.

Why am I pinning my hopes on a Mittal takeover? Because the Goons are doing everything they can to ruin our finest hour and the Mittals are the only option.

If there were to be a Mittal take over, I'm also pinning my hopes on another round of Amit the plilanthropist being given the QPR brief and staying onside with Lakshmi's daughter for the foreseeable future...
