Here's a controversial and unnecessarily negative comment, but I reckon we're going to give a team a hiding in the very near future.
Twice this season, look at their career goals per season. One has performed at the top level, the other has had one good season and that was only due to cheating to get about 13 penalties.
I agree, we are yet to see the best from this group of players, but I am more than happy with the progress. We have been hampered by injuries, but from where we were last year, it has been an amazing transformation in attitude and "togetherness". The disastrous season we had last year, would have broken many other clubs, the list is very long of those that suffered severe relegation implosion.
Flyer, your football knowledge and understanding of the game is astonishing, have you ever considered football management (at the very highest level). Because, mate, your analysis of football skill, and interpretation of the game is second to none.
Who gave this thread *****?! Hilarious. I wouldn't mind seeing Austin and AJ resume their partnership against Charlton. Don't quite see how Chevy has suddenly developed such a reputation for goal scoring amongst some of our contributors. Impossible today due to the injury situation but he probably needs a bit more than 5-10 mins at the end of games.
rest assured mate, as I said to you the other day....it has been adressed at the highest level....just hold on a bit longer
A team needs consistency to get out of this league. Something we are at the moment, both in terms of points and performances. You build consistency from a solid defence, then you go from there, the goals will come. We the fans need perspective. From where we were 6 months ago and to where we are today is pretty close to miraculous. If the team and us fans can combine the two, consistency and perspective, we will be promoted.
Well i for one was happy they did. It made me feel very loved on a site that i believe sometimes i get over looked.
We are still a defensively minded team. The way Harry likes his teams to organise. Unless we get more bodies into the box we will struggle to score more goals than we deserve (last weeks Jenas goal is an example). One up front is unlikely to stretch CB pairings, especially of Hoillet and Phillips aren't drawing defenders out to make more space. I certainly don't blame Austin, but would like to see him improve his goals/shots ratio. Agree with Uber, it will come, but when oh when!!!
Well said Jack. I notice he had his usual Goalkeeper hate-fest yesterday evening as well, slating Green for not saving the shot for Reading's goal. No keeper in the World would have got to that. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm convinced Flyer has only started watching football in the last couple of years. He really ain't got a clue.
Indeed........imagine if we'd kept him in the Championship? He's have scored at least a dozen by now!
I think people are being a bit hard on Charlie, McCarthy had a very good game yesterday. You ask your striker to get the ball on target and he did that yesterday forcing McCarthy to make few good saves, imo was unlucky not to walk away with a goal.
Okay here is my attempt at team management Against Charlton, Donny and Bmouth we play 4,4 2 The back 5 take care of themselves (well nearly...but as I do not know the Ned/Dunne situation...I am going to ignore that...it is also not the focus of this thread). The midfield Barton, Jenas (I hope), Philips, ONeill (Hoillet looks out again to me) AJ, Austin In all matches Chevy comes on at 60 minutes...to play with one or other of the front two...to see what the best combo is. By the end of these three matches, and before the hard Christmas matches, we should know what our best attacking format is, who can play with whom, and one of the three of them may have had a goalscoring run to boost confidence. Harry, I am available, if you wish to call...and I am happy to join the coaching staff....obviously dressing room chats are not my forte, but happy to shout instructions through the door.
