Exactly! It's easy to blame Wyke but the players around him have to get themselves in to the right positions to score.

Agreed, i think Wyke is better than given credit for and Phillips was as good as he was with a lot of help from Quinny.

Parky surely must tweak things a bit though and give some players a bit rest in the run in,
Seems like some poor performances are creeping in.

Gooch was very very poor yesterday and needs a rest, replace with Semenyo, Watmore or Hume in the starting line up next game or at least replace him on 45 minutes if he is having another stinker, not sure about the Lafferty situation, Wyke had a very good game yesterday, but does not look in any way a goal threat, his headed chance was a gift for most strikers worth their salt imo. I would not mind seeing two strikers in front of Maguire in our home games from the off, do this and I think we could cruise second halves more often than trying to retrieve situations as has been the case too often. Having said that we were by far the better team yesterday, and only lacking a goal going so close on three of four occasions and we should have had a penalty, after such a poor start we can draw possitives from this and hopefully string a few wins together starting on Saturday OaU.

It isn't just Wyke who offers next to no goal threat. We also have a centre midfield who have only scored two league goals between them all season.

We rely far too heavily on Maguire and Gooch to get the goals we need and it becomes a bigger problem if we don't keep a clean sheet in every match or if either of them are off form.

It says a lot when we've only picked up 5 points all season if we've been behind at half time (11 matches iirc and not one win) and have only scored 6 goals away from home in the league in 10 matches under Parkinson.

<laugh> "Wyke had a very good game yesterday" - and here's me thinking I was in a massive minority in thinking that!!

We might be but what do we care, <ok> he needs a goal or two to add to his overall contribution, and a bit more energy around him in the box from midfield.

I said before that his goals/game fir us is currently better than Niall Quinn 1/4 vs 1/5) but Quinn had other attributes to his game and a lot of help from those around him! Wyke has little help!

plots of people slating Hume too on twitter etc but completely forgetting that Gooch has hung him out these last few games. It may be time to rest at least one of those 2!!

    Onein Scowen Power John

I will be going as per usual on Saturday, but have to confess that the last two results have left me a little demoralised...

A team will concede the odd goal, we do before we have woken up, so you have to score 2 or 3 to win..that is our problem, as this thread highlights.

I notice the much maligned Grabban scored last night

To be honest Grabban was not much good here. Perhaps it was our style of play, Forest style certainly suits him 17 goals this season.

I remember Grabban as being a useful player, thought that about McNulty as well, opinions eh. On performance how anybody can want Grigg back is beyond me, but thats, football you've got to love it. <ok>

Grigg I see why some of our fans want him back but, IMO that's mainly based on that "what if he rediscovers" - I've seen nothing in him to tell me he wants to play here. Parkinson knows best though

Just the fact he’s getting on the bench now and pp has mentioned him a few times tells me that he’s now fully fit and raring to go.

    fingers crossed anyway.

Wyke seems to be the current scapegoat for our lack of goals recently, but the lad tries his best and is left so isolated upfront. Against Coventry he was surrounded by 3 centre halfs, he needs a player to help him up front.

That is supposed to be Gooch or Maguire... perhaps the Loanee or Grigg should be tried?

I agree with that. It's interesting that Scowen was used differently at Barnsley when he was there, as opposed to qpr. Listening to Barnsley fans, they liked him and he was played in more of an attacking role than when he was at qpr, maybe he could be used more like that. I'd like to see him start Saturday regardless.

Same here. He scored 8 in 55 for Barnsley in this division and we could definitely do with more of a goal threat from centre midfield.

Commentator has just said Aguero has scored 21 goals out of 23 starts...

    Cutting edge?
