The University of Greenwich have said that Labour's Nationalisation plan would be profitable for the Treasury in seven years due to savings in Dividends and Interest payments? They propose that the Government should pay 25% of the market value for these industries but where shares are owned by pension funds them these should get additional payments??? So I guess they are saying that the French State owned EDF should be Nationalised and the French paid 25% of it's true value... I can see Macron being happy with that.

Now (I was around in the 1970's) past history of State owned Monopolies is not great … Telephone charges halved after privatisation of BT, Water charges stayed stable while investment increased after privatisation, electricity/gas charges also halved when competition entered the market when British Gas and the Electricity Boards were privatised. For a respected organisation like the UoG to suggest that privatisation will be profitable for the Country is quite frankly ludicrous.

    Respected! <laugh>
Sounds to me like the University of Greenwich is being run by loonies who know absolutely nothing about real life.
    25% of market value?
Next they'll be having campus book burning sessions - anything ever published about sensible economics? Into the fire!

There is no moral difference between paying 25%, and knocking on every pensioner's front door and conning them out of their life savings, one by one.
These nutty, weird-bearded UoG professors ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Corbyn talks about taxing big business and going after the Jews (oops, sorry, I meant going after the super-rich) but what he really wants to do is raid the pensions of folk who've worked all their lives.

This is the Independent, which to the Labour Party is what the Telegraph is to the Tories

The so-called Independent is a joke.

If it ever had any objectivity to begin with, it was lost within about a fortnight of its launch.
    I'd rather read the Guardian.

There is also a complete contempt for the BT shareholders & the pension funds that would be decimated. In reality they would have to bulldoze the likes of Virgin & Talk Talk as well, and pass a law to confiscate their 10% of the network.

Average Con poll lead last night was 13 points. One poll put the lead at 17 points.

The public haven’t bought Labour’s lies about “free” broadband.

Ive just seen their policy announcement for today ....guess what ....

“free” dental check ups for all.

(Dentists are contracted ...so would have to be compensated by the Govt)

The Lib-dems aren't making the inroads expected. Looks like many of Labour's traditional supporters will hold their noses and vote Labour, so hopefully when the Corbyn experiment ends Labour will still be a functioning political party. If Corbyn did win it would all go tits up so badly that it would finish Labour for good.

I think a lot of people will secretly vote Lib Dem, but aren't willing to admit it right now.

Remainers who are too ashamed to confess their lack of respect for the 2016 referendum result, but will be grateful for this last chance to vote for the shameless Jo Swinson, so she can do their dirty work for them.
If/when she puts Jeremy Corbyn in No.10, I hope their consciences give them dogs abuse for many years to come.

By the way, I'm glad Labour's 'Free Broadband' promise has been greeted with almost universal derision.

And they have apparently decided not to specifically push increased free movement in their manifesto.
Presumably they think voters will just forget that it was ever mentioned.

The unspoken story of this election so far is the flatlining of the Illiberal Non Democrats.

A proposal this morning from the Conservatives- a new law that guarantees that any convicted child killer will be forced to serve a whole life sentence. This will affect around 12 convictions (scumbags) a year.

I would go a step further, and introduce a mandatory death sentence for any convicted child killer.

They have forfeited their right to life.

I'd hang fare dodgers and scumbags who spit on the ground. Oh, and anyone who abuses animals.

In fact, the list is endless.
