I haven't been to look over the road but I'm imagining a comment like "Our owner is so tight, he won't even buy his own clothes. SPEND SOME MONEY ON A STRIKER MAN."
Sorted out my son as mascot away to QPR at a time when away clubs didn't have mascots ... ... and arranged a free seat for us both. Won't hear a word said against Bob
Brilliant supporter of the club and fantastic vision. I remember the days when the stones were hitting the Admin offices outside Roker Park.....Bob's wife was inside telling him she'd had enough of all this ****....he never gave in to it and was instrumental in creating the SOL. I'm proud of him.....came from Consett, same as me. Very proud!
Me neither. Bob was superb, and guilty only of not being a billionaire. I once wrote him a highly critical letter at the bottom of our time under him. He took the time to respond personally which would have been easy to avoid. He is a real fan Bob. In the History of the Club book, that was out around twenty years ago, there is a fantastic picture of him. He is in sid james' board room, after the win in the rain. He is standing there , with a club weatherproof red coat on, holding a drink I think, and with a massive, full on beam on his face. Red and white to his bones is Bob, and without his vision and perseverance we would not have the club we have today.
Great post mate! The young lads today don't quite get what a superb effort it was from Bob to get our stadium built, for the ultra cost, and the ability to expand so relevently cheaply cost per seat to go to 64k,which he knew would be our limit . There are many PL clubs now which would kill for his vision. He's a total legend!
