It wasn't that long ago that certain Spurs fans were saying they had the best 2 full backs in the world. Now their selling one of them, it's no biggie.
You are assuming it was his idea. He has said many times over the summer he doesn't want to leave, but Poch has an issue with him (not sure what it is). He didn't play in the FA Cup Semi Final or the NLD. Writing was on the wall.
That's actually a good point. Walker and Rose were being creamed over by the Spurs fans last season. I know some think Trippier is better etc etc etc. but what a load of utter nonsense. He's not better, Walker is far better. Hence someone spending 50mil+ on him.
Trippier plays a mean cross, can hit it on the move, reads the game well..his exposure comes through a lack of pace....we can accommodate that with Dier and Victor the Kenyan kolossus, in close proximity. Trippier also outscored Kyle Walker so i reckon hes better in attack too.
Maybe Poch and Levy have no real choice but to sell, or risk losing him next year for nothing. 50mil is a lot of money when you're building a new stadium. We had the same when Anfield was being expanded.
Being football men, we have the know how to recognise that football is a team game. Indeed being surrounded by the best defensive unit will have played a part in that. He was the best right back in the league..but thats because he was part of the best defensive unit over the past 2 seasons. Now removing 1 of the 5 pieces of the jigsaw will leave the 1 piece weaker not the other 4. Moses was on loan at West ham and a journey man before Conte used his brain. Alonso was helping Sunderland scrape through in a relegation battle. Did they just become superstars overnight helping your team win the league or did they both get utilized in a team which has Matic,Kante ,Cahill and Courtois(golden glove winner) as company and coached by a top class defensive coach? Come on Bluey...i'm sure you understand the beautiful game a bit deeper than that.
That's a very good post and true to a certain extent. On some occasions though you remove one piece of a unit and it can collapse. I don't think that will happen as Trippier is good (not great imo). But it does sometimes happen.
Thats true, but trust me that one piece to cause the collapse wont be that mong at right back..id be thinking along them lines had we just sold Toby Alderworld
that's because he was a monster of a CB...losing TA would have a similar affect on us i reckon. When was the last time you heard a team built around a right back? top Centrebacks are the spine of a team.
He's a brilliant player, you'd struggle to replace him. Fergies success was always built on avoiding wholesale changes, Poch looks like he's trying to do that with Spurs and it's a good blueprint to follow if you can.
