I've seen £55m + add-on's; £54m + add-on's; £53m + add-on's; £50m +.................. As neither club is going to disclose the truth, the only hope is learning what Sheffield United's 10% cut is. I'm going for £55m as we Walker away (sorry!) with £50m in our pocket which gives us a world record sum for a defender and that's very Daniel Levy.
Sheffield Utd are the main beneficiaries of this. £5M makes a real difference to them. Joint highest fee for a defender (with David Luiz and John Stones).
Good point. He plays at the back. Which is much like saying Jimmy Anderson bats in the lower order. So he's as defender in the same way Anderson is a batsman.
I've not seen Jimmy Anderson play football but compared with John Stones, he may be a decent bet at centre half.
Walker to City and Dier to Utd would be disastrous. Forgot the money we need to show we want to be taken seriously. Selling one player who the manager wasn't overly keen on is just about acceptable but selling Dier in the same window would show Kane and Alli that we don't have serious ambition.

They had 30,000+ crowds in the third tier, yet you see empty seats all the time now at The Etihad. That game was bullshit too, to be fair to Walker! ****ing Howard Webb.
Earlier this week I went on the Blue Moon website to guage the mood after Alves did the dirty on them. There was lots of incredulity that he would choose such a small club over them and that he'd only done it for the money. One fan pointed out that some of the comments suggested that they were in danger of becoming that which they hated. A wise old head pointed out that ship had already sailed. They're rich and powerful and they're not Manchester City any more. These new clubs belong to television viewers in China and Africa. They're decreasingly relevant in their own city.
The Times says the fee breaks down like this: A fee of £45m paid up front An installment of £5m to be paid in twelve months time An additional £4m in add-ons People were asking where the Levying was, and there it is right there: cold hard cash up front, or piss off.
I think "it's a World record fee of £50m or **** off" ain't too shabby. With everyone and his dog wanting to live in London, trust us to find full backs who want to live up north!
Sad to see and somewhat strange too. It has been a long, long time since I saw a top Spurs player in a rival team's kit. Berbatov a decade ago, to be precise. I guess I will wish him all the best - went about the move the right way without kicking up a stinking fuss and throwing his toys out of the pram *cough* modric *cough*, but at the end of the day my lasting opinion of Kyle will be this: He gained much, much more from the club than the club gained from him. From his outstanding breakthrough season perfectly managed by Harry and mentored by the likes of Ledley, Gallas and Dawson along the path to the YPOTY award, through a career nosedive under AVB and Tim before Poch quite literally resurrected his status as one of the best RB's in the PL. If the figures quoted by HBIC are correct and we are receiving £45m up front, that is a remarkably good deal. Even the Royal Bank of Spain. Sorry, I mean: even Real Madrid wouldn't pay anywhere near that amount up front for Bale. And now the real test comes: can we - for once - invest the money wisely?
I'm a big fan of Walkers and I know stats only tell part of the story, but this comment on the BBC website says a lot. He's on a par with a FB we sold on and his direct replacement who played only 1/3 the number of games. All is definitely not lost!
The right-back recorded five assists for the Premier League runners-up, the joint-most for a defender in the division alongside Bournemouth's Adam Smith and Spurs team-mate Kieran Trippier, who made six of his 12 appearances from the bench.
Problem is, the Sugga Daddy FCs can pay it. Time will tell whether this is classic Levying or a pyrrhic victory.
