In today's market he is worth a lot of momey. The fact that he was one of the stand out performers in the Championship before signing for us on loan coupled with his now proven Premier League pedigree has inflated his value further. For us not to get him in January would suggest that he is carrying a hefty price tag. I reckon upwards of £5.5m, a figure that we couldn't realistically afford this January as we were not mathematically safe from the drop at that stage and you wouldn't want to lumber yourself with another massive wage.

He could be affordable come this Summer, even at that price because realistically where on earth are we going to get somebody else of his quality from! I do not think that anybody I know would disagree that he is an absolutely top-class defender and as such he makes our team a hell of a lot stronger when he is in it!

they paid roughly £5m (as ICHB rightly says he was bought along with walker for about £10m but that was after Everton had a £5m bid turned down) so i doubt they would take a loss, unless they think walker is worth significantly more, i reckon our staring bid would have to be £6m, still could be a bargin.
....think we could get him for around £4M with add ons and resale clauses. as for rhodes, we may well be priced out of a move for him, but rodriguez could be an equally exciting and cheaper option.

Maybe he should have a bad few games of the season, bring the price down and then we get him on a steal!
