I don;t understand the valuations here. We paid 8 for Fed, a center back playing regularly that hadbfeatured in the World Cup Final. We are paying 5 for Naughton, a player barely seen on the bench never mind on the field, who does not have a senior cap (?). Some thing is not right here.
Seems to me we should get Naughton on loan with an option. Let's see how he fits before we spend this money

if that the case then we should have done a deal for the two of them and for less, If we're not careful we'll end up spending the money from Bony well before the summer which isn't good idea . I'd hold on to see how Mr Grimes does otherwise what was the purpose of buying him ,to strengthen the U21's I hope not
I thought Grimes was a Gylfi type player whereas Carroll would be a great long term replacement for Leon.
Surely we had money for players to come in this January. When the summer transfer period was over Monk was saying he'd hoped for another 3 players - if that was the case money would have been available.
You're possibly right but with I'd have thought more for minor tweeks rather than a major purchase , with Grimes and Oliveria in that's the minor so what's going to constitute the major Naughton / Carroll ?
Do you know what Valley I would love to sign Carroll, but we dont half need a Midfield player with some presence. We just dont sign that sort of player and man do we need one. As good a season Ki is having and it has been superb I want someone who scares the oppostion.
One thing for sure, Ki is a very flexible player and capable of being a force on the field. Imagine what he could do with a strong, solid ball-winner of a DM along side him to allow to be more creative and push forward.
Yankee thats what I am on about, maybe a Wanyama (excuse the spelling), Tiote, who gets stuck in and gives the ball to Ki and Siggy to go and play. I love Briton and Caroll and before them joe and think they are excellent players, but occassionally we need to meet forc with a bit of force and with what we have at the club at the moment we arent able to do that.
Fully agree. We are still lacking that enforcer in midfield but in terms of a replacement for Leon, Tom would be perfect. Naughton and Carroll for £10 million would be very good business as I would see us happily pay £10 million for Carroll.
As I said the other day, we need our Schneiderlin. Get that type of midfielder and our CM positions would be very strong.
Naughton has passed his medical and trained with the Club today. Monk has been enthusing over him,so clearly he hasn't been influenced by Spurs' fans' and their negative comments. Expect him to officially sign tomorrow and be in squad for the weekend game against Blackburn.

Well he isnt about to announce he has paid 5m for a ****e player. He has to big him up and time will prove him right or wrong. So if he has signed welcome aboard and prove your worth to our great club.
