If someone says the reds, you know they are (most likely) talking about Liverpool even though lots of teams play in red. The same way, United is most commonly referred to as Man Utd. It's not set in stone, it is just common English footballing vernacular. Not to say that West Ham fans or Newcastle fans or Leeds fans might not use it, but the most common use is for Man United.

I'm an atheist and therefore don't give a **** if Jesus loves me. To me Jesus is a pretty common name for hispanic people.

And when I said "most likely reason", that's because the majority of your fans are not from Manchester. You have 4 million fans in this country, for a 2 club city with a population of ~500 000, that means it's a pretty fair assumption that if someone is a manchester united fan, they are not from manchester.

The argument isn't about whether or not it is the most common usage for "united". The argument is that it's ****ing wrong and sounds ****.

Back on topic, ferguson is a petty, horrid little man who's not even close to worthy of his title.

But that's not the point. Everyone's perfectly within their rights to act like a dick, which is what Ferguson is and what the main point of this thread was.

The point is the frequency with which he acts like a complete prick or just a spoilt baby means he doesn't deserve even half the respect some starry eyed morons give him. Poor behavior gets completely ignored and dismissed because its "sir alex" and he's "achieved so much". When all he ever really did was sell out the rest of the football clubs to Sky and the Premier League. Well, that was a lot down to the board at the time, but I don't really give a ****. He's a horrid little man who, had he not been the manager of manchester united at the time, wouldn't have even been remembered. Had he managed any other club he'd have been dogshit.

This is the bit that angers me the most about Kuszczak's statement:

The guy just put a stumbling block in front of your career path for no reason other than he's a petty little moron. How can you respect that?

Because alex ferguson is a petty little moron. It's why he keeps having temper tantrums and getting touchline bans. He blocked the loan because it's Leeds, despite the fact his player was begging to be let go because he doesn't want to stick around as third choice in a team he'll never break into.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Lets see, De Gea signed for big money yet very inexperienced and maybe just maybe SAF despite backing him wanted at least one experienced keeper on the books in case the kid bottled it big time. Also before anyone starts claiming what about Lindegaard and Amos? Not much experience there even between both of them. Kuszczak was kept IMO for experience in case any of the three younger guys cocked up.

As bulletinthehead said, Ferguson told him he was allowed to go to Sheffield United or Doncaster, but not Leeds. Does that make sense to you?

Sorry but how do you know this? Cause Kuszczak said so! <laugh> Has SAF actually been quoted as saying Sheffield Utd or Doncaster but not Leeds?

in case any of the three younger guys cocked up???

You'd need an injury crisis and a disastrous collapse in form and confidence to have all three out at the same time. Its pretty weak as a defence of the decision. Lindegaard had two full seasons as No1 at Aalesund - not the Premier League perhaps - and is a capped international. He has stated his intent to get the No1 shirt. Amos is pretty inexperienced, tis true, but he was good enough as 3rd choice and cover for VDS and Kuszczak when Lindegaard was injured last season. And you also have another youngster Sam Johnston. Its not like you'd be completely exposed.

From a bystanders' point of view, it looks a wee bit petty to block his request to go on loan to a contending Championship side, but apparently happy for him to go to a struggling Championship side or a League 1 side.

However, do we know that is how is was for sure? What is the noise out of OTabout this officially?

Lindegaard is a good keeper but why make mention of his intentions. Of course he wants to be number 1. What kind of professional would he be if all he wanted to do was sit on his ass? Amos is inexperienced as is De Gea let alone the young kid Johnston. So what if Lindegaard the most experienced (based on his age) gets injured, De Gea bottles it and SAF is left in reality with Amos. Would the idea of letting the 'slave' go be such a good idea?

Anyway in reality I don't care where he plays. I cannot stand this crap that modern footballers are poor slaves forced to earn large sums of money, playing the sport they love instead of getting a real job. Poor Kuszczak. My heart bleeds for you as Utd forced you to enslave yourself to Utd until June 2012 when you signed your new contract.
