The thing many are forgetting is that you can only convince the small number of people who are undecided....the vast majority of people have an entrenched opinion. The reason Farage triumphed is that a lot share his view already and they are the ones interested enough to watch such a debate. The vast majority never even bothered to watch it and my guess is that a majority of those would not vote to leave the EU. It is the same as a debate on the death penalty...the majority are probably against it if it came to a referendum, but the ones interested in its reintroduction are more likely to watch a debate on the subject.

If there is a referendum the votes to leave the EU to will be massive. Too much ill feeling with the lack of jobs, the poor getting poorer etc. The public will see it as a chance to put one over the government and the crap EU try and enforce. I probably won't even vote, yes being part of the EU brings trade etc, but I am not liking how Germany seem to be getting more and more power.

I can see the argument for it, as the younger one is the quicker one learns. Plus, during my couple of years student teaching [you didn't know that did you..!] I saw ordinary children with very poor learning skills at the age 4 and 5, who were way behind the majority already, and that sort of thing could be minimised. However, I'm not convinced that it is a good thing to have outside elements breaking the bond of parents and children so early. For the minority I mentioned, it certainly could be beneficial.

I think this probably reflects bad parenting in many homes. Children used to arrive at school familiar with the concept of reading, able to hold a pencil, and to sit quietly (all learnt by being near their mother...who is now more likely to be on her phone, ignoring her offspring). Taking children so young (which I don't really agree with) may make up for shortcomings at home. I'm not talking about really awful parents, but ones that have been raised the same way and know no better.

Children at a young age should learn through play as most do at playschool etc. To simply say some children may not be getting this due to whatever reason and school would be better is mad. Not only will it greatly increase burnout in children it will also take away what being a child is about which is having fun.

We can't simply say some parents don't care about teaching their children so all children must go to school at 2. Maybe make playschool a bit like school were if your child doesn't attend you get fined?

I'm not agreeing with it, Beefy. I'm simply saying I can see the argument for it. There are plenty of valid arguments against it too.

Yeah the Green block has about 8%, it's interesting to see how the British parties are split up. Basically there is no one in the biggest block (EPP), Lab/LD/Green/SNP are pretty small constituents in large central/lefty groups, and Con/UKIP are dominant in their smaller groups.

Bit of a shame that no one knows this stuff without spending 20 mins procrastinating on Wikipedia. Also there's a Belgian party called "Green!"
