Kranjcar would definitely have played the role differently, but I think he'd have been very effective in it. He'd be easier to pick up, but he'd also leave the front man less isolated than van der Vaart does, at times. I think that a midfield of Sandro, Huddlestone, Pienaar, Kranjcar and Dos Santos would've been too much to handle for many Europa League teams in the season just gone. Unfortunately most of them suffered from injuries at the start of the campaign, as did most of our back-up defence and we lacked a squad player that could play the lone striker role. Too many players started the season demotivated and looking for a transfer, too. We need to get our side settled right from the off for the coming season.
I think that what was said earlier is an extremely valid point. Due to our pay structure, we can't attract the same level of player who is content to be on he bench - we don't pay enough. City, Chavski, Utd, etc have people on the bench earning more than most of our top earners. Our subs want to play. We don't pay them enough to be happy to sit on the bench.
Wiki states the fee in the region of £7m http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niko_Kranjčar The Fail £5.5m http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-Dynamo-Kiev-Tottenham.html?ito=feeds-newsxml BBC states undisclosed fee.
I thought he should have played more. I would have tried to figure out a way to start him every third game and bring him on as a sub in another third.
Gave a top class interview to Sky. Very respectful and professional. Top man. Wish him all the best. Another good player that I sincerely hope we won't be wishing we have to call upon next season due to injuries/suspensions/losing. So the revolving door has started to turn...
