All Sunderland fans inhabit the real world we are not in a privileged successful bubble of moderate to excessive successs - count yourself very lucky
I count myself lucky to have my health, wealth, happiness, wife, house... sport is entertainment and always will be, I don't consider myself lucky to support a team that has been consistently winning for any amount of time. Nor do I consider you unlucky for dodging trophies as if they're going to harm you, it's sport, nothing more.
My post related totally to the real world of football - it is essentially a football forum after all - of course it's minor compared to the important blessed elements of family & health in our real lives - I'm a lucky bloke like you there - but for some less fortunate love for your football team increases - at least we have a football stress free weekend to come tho'
Well that's a load of crap. We haven't been given enough credit for our win, I don't think. Man Utd were probably in the best form of their season when we faced them. We were magnificent, stopped them playing the sublime football they had been playing and reduced them to mainly shots from outside the box. Forget the rest of their season, we faced a very strong Man Utd, and won
You faced a Man United side that have been inconsistent all season, we had beaten Stoke convincingly and dominated a draw with Chelsea. We went into the game (as fans) expecting to win because of our last two results but what we were served up by the team was the same, lackluster, uninspiring performance we've been used too all too often this season. Louis Van Gaal has sapped the life out of our players, not a single player is playing with any sort of confidence, possibly with the exception of Martial. Sunderland didn't stop us playing any more than Midjtyland stopped us playing last night, there is only one ****ing idiot who is stopping my team playing and that's our manager. You nullified what was our only threat in the first half, Juan Mata and the game become nothing more than a formality from there.
You also played great football in the game before Stoke, which was against Derby, I think. This is something else we won't agree on. You will continue to say your team were lacklustre, I'm going to say we stopped you from playing and upped our attacking game. That game was by far the most number of shots we have had in a game this season, and you are certainly not the worst team we have played at home this season. We also stopped Man City from playing the football they wanted to in the previous home game.
I'll argue that City have been terrible on the road all season anyway. You can weigh our performance up as you like, but if I turned to you and said after you beat Newcastle 3-0 you were in the form of your season, next game you were absolutely trounced by Everton, you played as well as you could, very good performance and full of confidence but they stopped you playing... bullshit, you never turned up, you were dismantled because your heads dropped and you were all over the shop. I'm not denying you deserved to win, we've beaten numerous teams playing that poorly this season so it's not as if we played the worst game in our history, we still could have won the game despite playing so poorly, but not by any stretch were we anywhere near the levels we'd put in at Chelsea, we looked soft from the moment the game started, I've seen it all too often to give you guys the credit for it, sorry.
Its fine mate. You are allowed your opinion, as I am mine. Newcastle was a one off result (for the 6th time), we weren't playing well leading up to that game and we certainly didn't play that well during it. We weren't exactly in form when we played Everton, which is completely different to your circumstances, because you were in the form of your season when we played you.
We'd picked up 4 points from two games and beaten a Championship side, the fans believed we might have turned a corner, I certainly did, but we'd shown nothing like any sort of 'form'. You're talking as if we'd just come off the back of 5 wins, I mentioned that the Chelsea suckerpunch could have taken the wind out of our sails before the game, Van Gaal was foaming about it, it made me think he'll get them on the training ground and tell them they can't play with as much freedom after conceding such a sloppy goal, that's almost certainly happened, especially looking at the **** we served up last night. Looking at the pass accuracy for the game, Mata, Morgs and Blind all up in the high 80's, it's LVG's style to a T, there was no freedom at all in the team. Only Mata and Martial were linking up well and you could spot that with a blindfold on, Allardyce certainly did, then it was game over. We had no 'form' at all going into that match, we've been inconsistent all season the only difference is we maybe had a bit of false hope after a couple of pleasing games.
Thats virtually what I said - first line gives it away - no blame which was a reply to a previous post TW post - we were pretty good and should have won by more imo
