I don't think they have worked, on occasion we've been ok at the back but they certainly don't look like a partnership and that's something we are crying out for, 2 central defenders that work together.
Suppose it's impression, it has been better than other recent partnership then... Not that is good enough. My issue is Rogers wasted 20mil on an organiser who was not an organiser. Matip has never been one so why klopp as a former cb doesn't see this I don't know
Of course, we all have. I think the relevant point is that everybody does, and unless we can get a genuine world class defence it will always struggle given the way our playing style leaves it exposed. I didn't watch Lovren at Saints all that much, but by all accounts he was fine, given the greater protection that his midfield offered him. I know I keep repeating this, but it's a team game, and unless an individual constantly makes a series of calamitous errors it's pointless singling them out. If we genuinely want to see our defence improve, we need to look fairly at the reasons for its failure rather than just isolate easy targets. It's long been said, but a solid DM would work wonders. The ones we have are all too attack minded and want the glory for themselves. We need a young version of Lucas, someone happy to do the dirty work for the team and go largely unnoticed. Maybe Grujic, but he's the footballing equivalent of an axe-murderer so we might be down to 10 a lot.
i don't think it will be the total problem sorted but i agree a strong partnership at CB helps. Especially if one of them really leads. MY issues are: GK... its not great. its not that bad but its not top class... no where near CM. no 6 role is non existant Balance between attack and defence. I think we are far too eager to press in bad areas. Klopp says press hard wide, he says press up high but I am seeing all three cms covered sometimes by 10 yards and two of them go to the one guy in a hard press in the centre and one pass and the back line is compeltely exposed. I see us enter transition very quickly but zero care being taken by players to ensure they don't lose the ball when players go forward Look at the goal aguero scored at 0-0 v city. It was in effect head tennis... get it ended up as a 2 v 1 alomost on klavan... WHY? no balance. why were we all up the pitch when playing god damn head tennis? Look at the second goal they socre. aimless floated straight ball by henderson as we pushed up. no care to it at all.
If my reason for mentioning Everton was to have a laugh at you, you'd have a point but it wasn't. I couldn't care less who you've played or the reasoning for your current position. The only point I am making is that Everton are in the relegation zone and there's far less grief, if any, by all and sundry over that than there is for our relatively okay so far season.
That's simply not true though, the pundits and show hosts on TS have been picking over our poor start in equal measure to the discussions about Klopp and his tactics.
Matth says if Klopp stops saying "Boom" all will be well. Matthew @Carrick4unitedยท2h The press and media never have a go at Jurgen Klopp, Just because he says ''Boom'' They let him get away with anything, Tossers
The largest sports radio station in the country mate..... What media are you referring to that haven't mentioned our poor start compared to the lambasting of the big German cheerleader?
Any you can think of ESPN, Sky, Echo, Independent, Guardian, Telegraph, every pundit on MOTD .... shall I go on. Liked your 'haven't mentioned' compared to 'lambasting' btw Be honest now, nobody's bothered about Everton's start, everybody who has anything to say on football, anywhere, is saying how bad we are ... under pressure etc. etc.
That's nothing more than a kopite being grandiose about your supposed standing in the game, and patronising Everton in the same breath. There's been plenty said across the media about our crap start given the money we've spent and the pressure that's now on Koeman.
I think tobes you are right. the media has been racking up the pressure points on koeman. its just that its bottom of the headlines not the top. its a low lying bubbling pot thats being built up imo cos i don't think the press believe everton would sack the guy for at least another 6 months of this.
Come off it tobes, Liverpool is one of the biggest football clubs in the world, only someone who doesn't understand football would try and claim otherwise. Our standing in the game couldn't be much higher. The reality is LFC draws far more attention than Everton, that's not an opinion it's a fact. I honestly haven't seen or heard anything about your current position other than Mourinho's cheap digs last weekend. The next few weeks could see you leapfrog us and nothing much will be said about your rise but a lot will be said about our fall - should it occur.
Not like a Kopite to over blow your importance in World football mate You're still a big club, but still one of the elite? Nah, you're far less relevant than you'd like to admit in reality. One Mickey Mouse in a decade and no domestic league in a generation doesn't put you at the top table in 2017. Do you get more column inches than Everton? Of course, but it doesn't mean that our plight wasn't picked over, which is what you said and have just re-iterated. You must spend all day watching Kopite TV mate
