There's no chance AJ would beat Fury at the moment. He even had his feathers ruffled by Whyte. He's far too static.
He's a few fights away from taking on Fury at the moment there's no doubt about that. But if he continues developing like he has then he's going to be way too much for Fury when they do meet.
The bloke Joshua's fighting tomorrow looks a tad flabby as well... please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
He's got to beat (and probably will) Martin first. I think Joshua would be miles better if he dropped his weight lifting regime. You don't need to any weight lifting at all at to be world class boxer - and he's put on about 30 pounds of pure muscle in a few years. Ruined him imho.
He comes across as a fake 'street' child to me. He always bangs on about being from the ghetto etc. and living a hard life - turns out when he was very young his family moved to Colorado! Scott Quiggs had a harder life than him ffs.
If he chooses to take it. He'd be better defending his title a few times first although the draw of such a big fight might be too hard to turn down. Everyone knows he's fitter, stronger and a more gifted boxer than Fury but he's still very naive and needs to learn how to manage a fight before he takes on someone like Fury who is great at controlling fights. He made Whyte look good in that last fight by rushing things and being careless, he won't get away with that against Fury.
Well that's just not true, every single boxer lifts weights, even the chubby Manc, although judging by this he will have snapped his spine well before he fights AJ.
It's entirely true. Lifting weights does nothing for a boxer. All the muscles a boxer needs is built up from sparring, heavy bag, shadow boxing etc. It's arisen due to a belief that you need to look a certain way to be successful and it's vanity. Muscles in the wrong areas only limit a boxers movement. Power comes from speed and technique. A properly trainined welter weight will be able to punch harder than a body builder. It's the sweet science.
I've grown up knowing a few good pro boxers & ive also seen them fight in my old estate pubs when they've been pissed & I can assure everyone that size doesn't matter! When a good boxer hits someone large or small they don't get up for a while!
I can't tell if you're being serious or not. Do you honestly think the only reason every boxer from the pros to amateurs lift weights is because they think they need to look a certain way? If it was for vanity then they'd start training their legs too instead of having the chicken legs most boxers do. You might want to tell Fury because he's lifting weights and he still looks like ****. Lifting weights has been scientifically proven to strengthen ligaments and tendons, increase endurance, increase explosive power, improve core stability, boost growth hormone, increase recovery times, the list is endless. Thats why its part of every pro boxers training schedule.
Why is boxing split into weight divisions then? Surely if size doesn't matter a light weight could beat a super heavy weight no problem.
Oh yeah if they're matched up! I was pointing out the fact a decent boxer can take out someone double his size!
It doesn't even take a decent boxer to take down someone twice their size. I've taken a few down with an assortment of pool queues, kicks in the bollocks and verbal abuse.
I'm not disagreeing greeny. I'm saying if a ten stone boxer doesnt put the 17 stone bloke who can fight down quickly. It goes to the floor and he's ****ed.
Why don't swimmers lift weights every day? Do you think it's because it restricts their movements and slows them down?
