FYI people: Suarez and Huntelaar got 50 goals in 33 games for Ajax. Here's are some, courtesy of Youtube: Seem to have a good understanding with each other. Let's hope if he comes to us they can click again. If so = goals!
Fair do's MITO. Perhaps our lack of a natural striker is clouding my judgement and I'm just desperate to get someone in! On the flip side, he could be another Morientes ...
I can't view the video (damn the company's firewall!!) so I can't see the types of goals scored. Unlike someone like Dempsey, I think Huntelaar would represent less risk for the money he would cost and his age. He has scored goals in pretty much every league including around 15 goals in about 30-40 matches in La Liga and Serie A. I'm assuming he has a good personal relationship with Suarez after playing for Ajax. And finally, Suarez might actually trust Huntelaar enough to actually pass the ball. We've seen Suarez guilty of not passing the ball which shows that doesn't have faith in others around him and at times, I can't blame him.
Yeah, Suarez didn't mind passing to Klaas. Watch the clip at home later and see what you think. Here's a vid of Huntelaar's more recent goals from the Budesliga. The lad can still finish!
Haha it's a shame he didn't work out for us. Still a class player. Nice one mate. Will check it out later. I wonder what wages he would demand ...
Not sure how much he wants in wages. Shouldn't be too bad, with us offloading so many of our squad and a few more left to let go (Cole + Carroll, for example).
I just want us to sign a couple of goal-scorers. Both Borini and Yesil may turn out to be very good goal-scorers, but both are developing.
Cole needs to go. Such a massive waste of resources. Don't expect Carroll to go anywhere until after his loan but that could raise approx £15m in the summer. Can see Downing and Enrique leaving in Janaury although I would rather they stayed UNLESS suitable replacements were signed. I have a lot of confidence in January - Rodgers has made it clear on a number of occasions of how thin the squad is and the need for investment. Some of the names linked are encouraging including Lewandowski (unrealistic I know!). And then we have the new scouting dept which has been in place for a month now and will hopefully be working on targets so we're in a place to sign them ASAP.
I can't see the likes of Downing and Enrique and Carroll departing permanently until next summer. We may have a scenario when we have 8 new players in and those three out. Added to the possible 2 new signings in January, we could afford to lose Joe Cole, he adds nothing and he does nothing.
Providing we do not get into another AC position, i.e. selling before replacing the player, I think we'll be okay. I'd expect more than a few new signings, going off BR's comments on the squad being very 'thin' and about scouts 'scouring the the world' for talent. We need some talent for the future, but mostly we need goals for the present!
Huntelaar may not have any pace but the fact that he has scored goals consistently throughout this careers highlights his intelligence and technique. Suggests to me that he still has 3-4 years left in him. RVP looks good for Utd and he's 29 years old ..
Good points. What we need is an experienced ''stop gap'', for 3-4 years. It solves two problems, one it gets us goals in the present, secondly a seasoned finisher could assist the younger strikers in learning their trade. There is no doubt that Borini, Yesil and Morgan are talented, but they are raw and are for the future.
Another plus point is that he is a big(ish) name player. He has a fantastic reputation around Europe and other players will want to play with him, as well the likes of Suarez and Stevie. We can't rely on the LFC name alone to attract players, especially without CL football.
I agree, we need an established striker. Actually, I'd say two established strikers. That way we have options if one of them or, god forbid, Suarez is injured or banned (again!). We could also rotate them, as being older campaigners, playing them every game week-in, week-out might not be prudent. A bit like we used Bellamy and Kuyt, toward the end of their LFC careers.
totally agree, any side expecting to even think about 4th needs that many. everton langushed before jelavic arrived but they also have naysmith this year and moved fellinai further on too. newcastel have 3/4, utd have 4, cheslea have 2 but loads of second line men.... we have since torres arrived and crouch left had ONE player and we've gone backwards near enough since.. need to buy a couple.. totally agree.
