Welcome to the site, mate. Good first post. I also rate Damiao and he would be a good addition to our squad, although I'm not sure that we'd get him. More chance of getting him than Neymar, though.
Honestly they hardly talk of him, hes not a striker or a goal scorer. The culture here is all about show boats, Lucas has developed into a great technical player, breaking up plays and going about his trade quietly. There is nothing of merit in such behaviour in Brazil, every shirt here has 9 or 10 on the back, the rest of the team are just bit players. Brazil are still playing catchup on what a gem Lucas has developed into. He was also the butt of a lot critics here by getting sent off in the copa america in the summer, which ended in their elimination. The mindset here would never allow for the fact that Brazil today are not the world force in football they once were, so there must always be a scapegoat. Great league here though, so competitive, with 3 weeks to go there was SIX teams who could have won the league playing end to end exciting football, you will never see that in the EPL. Most Brazilians have their heads so far buried in the sand they miss so much about football. They believe Neymar will win the 2014 WC on his own (ala ronaldo), its just not happening. Neymar thrives on the time and space he has on the ball here, he will struggle to find the same in any top euro league. Players like Lucas will never draw admiration he deseves here as he would be considered boring and lacking flair.
Thanks for all the welcomes. Juve are currently sniffing around Damiao but no other european club have been linked. This guy is a finisher and right now he would be perfect for us, and whilst he would probably not be cheap he would be cheaper than most european strikers available this window. 40 goals in 51 games this year and at 22yo hes a big lad and more durable for the EPL. He also has skill to burn (do a you tube search of his flick and shot against argentina) a complete joy to watch. Also fits the FSG criteria.
