I was always pretty **** at History but this Richard III thing just confirmed it. I mean I didn't even know they had car parks back then
Ha, that reminds me. A mate of mine was a guide at Windsor Castle. He was showing a group of visitors round once and this woman said "Well, it's a wonderful castle. But why did they build it so close to the airport?"
Aye but Richard was shafted by a Scouser at Bosworth. That twat Lord Stanley (who owned most of Cheshire/Lancs as was) kept his men back to see who was winning and at the last minute took sides with Tudor. They even named a park and a district (he was also also known as Lord Derby) after him in Liverpool. Treacherous even then.
The entire population (bar myself) of York did! Was funny watching people getting uppity over something they knew nothing about only 24 hours prior to the news breaking!
Wow, that's profound. To say nothing of the north of England, I suppose. Because Lord Stanley (as Nostalgic rightly named) was supported by the Percy's of Alnwick (Northumberland) and Seamer (North Yorkshire)
The city of York/Eboracum/Jorvik has been pivotal in the history of Great Britain during Roman & Viking times and even before that. As the self appointed King of Sri Lanka it may mean little to you but it's of great importance to many people. Many York people know a great deal about their history tbh, as do I.
Here we are again, Happy as can be, All good friends, And jolly good company, Never mind the weather, Never mind the rain, We will stand together.............................And call each other worse than ****e...
Have you heard about the Geordie DNA test? Doctor, "You're pregnant, who's the father?" Woman, "D'na."
Always the victim of a bad pun, Richard III Ronnie Barker picked up a Richard the Third, once. After a while it flew away...
