"In other news, in a pre-emptive move, Fenway Management Group has agreed to send another 25 million pounds to Newcastle by rented donkey, in order to avoid all the paperwork that was involved in sending over the last 25 million, and to keep them from playing with what amounts to ten men for another year..."

Just one thing wasn't it Comolli who paid these prices with KD just saying yes he wanted them.

The big mistake IMO was employing Comolli.

Or am I wrong on this?

  6. Well, the Mousers are laying all of the blame at Comolli, implying that Kenny-boy was merely a mute by-stander.

    I refuse to believe that.

Kenny-boy was at the heart of LFC for many years before he gave in to Mouser misguided adulation and condescended to become their messiah. The idea that Kenny-boy would not have had any input, or even a veto, on both the player and the price paid is simply too far-fetched. The Yank owner would have consulted Kenny-boy on every aspect of each of these deals. As far as I am concerned, Comolli is nothing more than a glorified scout, who identifies what players may be available to the buying club.

Kenny-boy was definitely the villain in this particular peace. Trust me.

Dalglish was also responsible for some pretty shoddy signings at Newcastle, most notably Ian Rush, John Barnes, Stephane Guivarc'h and (nepotism alert) Paul Dalglish. He also played Jon-Dahl Tomasson out of position, and seemed perplexed that he wasn't performing to expectations.

None of the Liverpool old boys are legend enough to restore former glories. Dalglish was past it when he started and Souness was never that good. Alan Hansen wouldn't do it so who's left? Dalglish did a better job than Hodgson would have but that's not saying much is it? I don't know why they bought Carroll because he was no great shakes at Newcastle. That header against Sweden might make a couple of teams take note.

    Legacy?

Tottenham Hotspur - 2 league titles, 0 European Cups

Kenny Dalglish - 9 league titles, 3 European Cups.

This one was poor even by your standards HIAG.

Yeesh, anything but the Top Trumps defence...

Seriously, if Kenny Dalglish bumped into Roberto Mancini on the street this afternoon, only one of them would look like a winning manager. Here's a hint - it's the one who doesn't bang on about a shirt sponsorship deal when saying his sacking was harsh.

I'll just pop on here for Carroll updates as you lot seem to be on top of it more so than our board. <ok>

By the way...why would we want to sell Johnson?

I'll take a guess and suggest that it was mentioned as a way to generate some cash and you've got Kelly and Flanagan coming through.
He seems like the right player for Rodger's system though, so it seems extremely unlikely to me.

To be fair to the person that posted that comment, one of the players he mentioned has already gone.
I thought that Maxi would suit the way that your new manager sets up, so I was a little surprised he left.

Partly because he'd bring in around £8m based on being an international (possibly a bit more based on his English Premium), partly because you have Martin Kelly and Jon Flanagan capable of stepping up.

However, he's way down the list of players to move on to bring in transfer funds - Cole, Aquilani and Adam should be on top of that list, before considering taking a massive hit on Henderson.

people have to realise that ultimately only Pool fans care about these kind of things..as far as i am concerned...the sun is shinier at WHL than at Anfield these days...and these are the days we live in <ok>

I agree with you on Cole and Adam, get what we can on Downing too. Henderson, although not spectacular he is a good footballer and will fit in with BR's style of play. He's probably a better footballer than Allen but we have been unable to see the best of him so far. As for Maxi, BR wanted him to stay but I think he made his decision before the season ended due to not playing enough last season and wanting to go back home to his family.

As for Aquilani...**** knows. He is a decent player but is he committed? Will he stay?...either way he can make funds or be like a new signing if he did stay.

I'd prefer Carroll to stay, it will be interesting to see what our net spend is at the end of the summer. At what amount would it be feasible to suggest we are not on a sell to buy basis? £10m? £15m? £20m?

So, all the fans that have seen those victories, essentially, shouldn't care about them, because they're in the past?

Did you enjoy your brief stint in the Champion's League? Did you enjoy beating Milan? Sorry, you're not allowed to, or even mention it, because it's the past... Seriously, <doh>... what a ridiculous thing to say.

The article was about legacies (the remembrance of past deeds) and Kenny has a great legacy, despite recent failings. End of.

And also, only Liverpool fans care about how many trophies they've won in the past? You better get on the phone to Madrid and tell them to bin the CL trophy, maybe phone Sir Alex and Mourinho too, as it seems their achievements are now meaningless due to the profound wisdom of Spurlock. How can you even entertain such a ridiculous notion?

  20. Kenny was a great player, no doubt about that.

But as a result of his foolishness and his advancing old age, he will be remembered as the man who led 'Pool on their worst ever league campaign since the 50s. That is what the record books will show.

Unless, of course, your new manager takes you to even lower places, and I do admit that there is a very strong possibility that that is what will happen.

In a way, you Mousers must be hoping that BR does worse than Kenny-boy, so that Kenny-boy's infamy can be partly expunged from the pages of your history. That must be very strange for you Mousers?
