People need to learn about both sides in the NI troubles . I've read and watched quite a few thinks and it isn't one sided . That's all I have to say on the matter
'The troubles' were nothing in comparison to what come before the Anglo-Irish treaty/agreement. Black and Tans just took libertys on any Catholic that they came across. However, the treaty was signed for a free Irish state and the end to the fighting. The IRA never respected that and continued to cause problems. That's on them and nobody else.
Fact is mate, my whole life no southerner that I've known has ever given a shhite about Ireland/N Ireland it's never a topic of conversation, they can all do what they want, we don't care, we have never cared, why would we care. Yet the IRA took it on themselves to blow up a pub in Maidstone and a bunch of music service men in Deal. Neither area had any influence on the British Government or Ireland in general. That's like saying we are to blame for Scotland not getting it's independence which is absolute nonsense, because I'd vote for what they both want, independence and Ireland unified. We are just the sitting ducks for both sides of the argument!
Britain doesn't need a figure head. No President or King Needed. It's a parliamentary democracy. There would need to be some political safeguards put in place. There are already two parliamentary bodies, so a reform of Lords could take that place.
And he didn't last that long. No matter how bad a prime minister is, at least you know before long you get a chance to try kicking them out. No such option with a king.
I was just thinking why is that scabby little scouser rat on here. How many kids they shot today in America?
Someone only ever handed me a gun once, they never ever did that again. It wasn't my fault, it went off accidently.
Had a pretty serious knee operation when I was 19 (sports related) 1979 down at Wexham Park Hospital (near Slough) ... had to sign a pre-op form where one question asked about your religion ... whilst not really religious I ticked the Christian / Catholic box coz I was born to Catholic parents, went to a Catholic primary school etc - so anyway, this led to my post op convalescence being at St Joseph's Hospice in the local area - the nursing staff were part regular nurses and part Nuns ... got to know one particularly well, she was a fantastic lady, salt of the earth, Scottish ... but she confessed that she did look at the footie results each weekend and always hoped the Rangers had lost ... I asked her why - she said that as a novice her and another girl (Novice) were coming out of the priory adjacent to Hampden Park when Rangers had lost the Scottish Cup Final to Celtic - they were spotted in their Nun's robes by disgruntled Rangers fans who then pelted them with bricks and stones until they both collapsed unconscious ... she said she knew that hoping they lost every game ever since was 'un-christian' but she couldn't help it - I have no doubts that she was being truthful as she welled up as she was speaking - the story has always stuck with me ... it's hard to believe and, personally, I can't imagine having such hatred for anybody or anything within me ... indeed it saddens me deeply...
Get hating Thatcher for it ... her government were quick to blame it on 'hooliganism' ... but not sure how, or why, that should extend to the monarchy ... short of a delusional Thatcher thinking she was pseudo royalty ... " ... we are a grandmother... "
