Apparently talks with Warnock have broken down according to Sky Sports They now say David Platt is being lined up. Quality!!!!
SKY SOURCES: Talks between Nottingham Forest & Neil Warnock's representatives have broken down. More on #SSN You know things are bad when Warnock turns you down!
Forest are a shambles and Davies has played no small part. And to think some people wanted him at Leicester instead of Pearson!
Just shows that sports science shouldn't be neglected. Their side is falling to bits through injuries yet we're pretty much able to play the same side week in week out. Nige deserves massive credit for this IMO. I think that if Warnock stays and gets a very good pre-season there then they could be one of the top challengers next season, the have a more than capable side for this level.
To be fair to Colin he said Leeds would probably be his last job. At least the twat is sticking to it for the time being. Though it would have been funny. You get rid of that irritating prick Davies, and replace him with someone even worse...
I don't know if this is bad news or hilarious news (or both) but Colin has turned them down http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26726302
So why do people think Davies got sacked? Results or conduct? I think its his conduct as while he hasnt used injuries as and excuse they have had alot of injuries for 1 reason or another so a drop in results was always likely
It's clear from the chairman's statement that his conduct as not gone down well, not just failing to apologise to the fans or even applaud them after the Derby game, but this media blanket bollocks. They've even appointed Radio Nottingham commentator John McGovern as an ambassador to ensure there are good relationships between the club and the media - they've had to pay someone full time to undo Davies' actions. I think AKCJ made an excellent point about sports science, something Forest are some way behind us on. Davies' training techniques should also be looked at. The Leicester match was the beginning of the end for Davies. Derby finished them off. Seem apt. I would also say this Fawaz needs to watch what he says and how he acts. It was only a few weeks ago he was talking about stability and Davies being there for years. We all remember the Boyd fiasco and now Warnock of all people has knocked them back. He could learn all from our owners.
He has done well on the pitch in both his spells there ... for me he has let his frustration mount to the point that he has lost control ... I think the injuries they have sustained have undermined what was beginning to look like it might be a very good season ... when we played them they were on a good unbeaten run had walloped West Ham in the Cup and with the prospect of Sheff United to come possibly a trip to Wembley on the horizon ... watching those prospects all begin to unwind made him lose his composure ... he is not the only manager to have done that mind ... look at Pardew... he'll be back ... As to Warnock ... I'm not sure ... I suspect if they'd offered him a huge war chest he might have taken it ... seems bizarre to even take an interview if the travel logistics etc were always going to be a factor?
I would have taken him after Sven left because he was the best available candidate, he'd taken Forest to the play-offs on multiple occasions, and baring injuries, probably would have again this season. Hes not done bad seeming the defence he took to the play-offs every year was completely broken up once he left the first time. Seems that injuries/fans/chairman/referees have really got to him recently though, prob best to have the time away from the game.
Apart from Nige you mean (I'm guessing you mean unemployed candidates)??? In the 2009-10 season, Forest should have gone up automatically. Davies' constant moaning about the squad not being good enough badly damaged team morale and they began to slide, eventually they bottled it in the play-offs to a Blackpool side that should never have gone up. This season is a similar story, with Davies' complaining about injuries constantly, as Shakey as said just today, saying that the reserves are ready to step up whenever needed and supporting his players. A team that should certainly have made the play-offs look set to miss out if he had stayed. Davies' is a moaner and a whinger who cares more about protecting his own reputation than the fans or his players. He's a destructive and a disruptive force and I for one would not want him anywhere near my club.
There's some fair points in there Gangsta but also a couple that should perhaps have been prefaced with "In my opinion" ... some managers (Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho to name two) are / were very good at implementing a siege mentality that enabled their teams to rise to the occasion / play above their collective ability level - Mourinho taking Inter-Milan to win the Champions League being a prime example ... rather than badly damaging team moral an alternative view might be that Billy's constant harping etc might have given them a team colectivism that had enabled them to over achieve at that point ... I also think you are being rather unfair to Blackpool - their midfield of Southern, Vaughan and Charlie Adam was as good as any in the Championship that season ... they also beat Nottingham Forest in all four games against them that season ... they deserved their place in the Prem IMHO and were a little unlucky to have come straight back down ...
We beat Blackpool home and away that season, they were no great shakes. I felt going in they were the weakest side in those play-offs, although I certainly wouldn't say they didn't deserve a play-off place. Of course it's only my opinion, just like it was the opinion of people last season to blame Pearson's apparent inability to motivate the team for our slump last season. There's no way of scientifically proving what causes changes in form - Forest were great that season, I remember seeing them go to West Brom and win very conclusively 3-1 - it COULD just be a coincidence that Davies' repeated comments came just before a perfectly capable team began to lose its way. Players need support, not being told they're not good enough by their own manager. Psychology has changed since Clough's day and from personal experience, I can tell you Ferguson was very protective over young players like Giggs and Beckham and would never have treated them like that.
... interesting? ... and purely out of interest, what was your 'personal experience' of Ferguson's attitude to young players? ... Forest did win well at West Brom no doubting ... but Blackpool beat Forest 4 times ... and the 4-3 in the second leg at the ****ty ground was a phenomenal result ... you commented that they 'should never have gone up' ... I think they more than earned it ... Holloway (like him or loath him) got his tactics spot on against Forest in the play-offs ..
Well, as you said about my comments, that's your opinion on Blackpool and from seeing them several times that season, I don't agree. Not really any more to be said. My dad used to be in the sports memorabilia business, which means I spent a lot of time in my youth at hotels with players and managers from big clubs (remember Forest, then later Leicester and Derby were all in the prem in those days meaning megastars were never too far away!). Many players and managers were very nice (including Dennis Wise I may add) and, although Ferguson didn't like autograph collectors in general (there's a passage in his first autobiography slagging them off), he did allow us access to his players - except the younger players, at this time Giggs and Beckham. They were treated very differently; protected and wrapped in cotton wool almost (and didn't it pay off - what players they became!). One time my dad managed to get hold of Beckham and Ferguson copped him. Fergie went mental! Didn't stop my dad though! He did the same trick on United's next visit, got caught again and Fergie remembered him from his previous efforts. The language would have made Bernard Manning blush.
@SkySportsNews: Sky sources: Malky Mackay not interested in Nottingham Forest manager’s job #SSN So Neil Warnock and Stuart Pearce have turned the job down and Malky isnt interested! Does anyone want the Florist job?
