Aber, we're never going to agree and I know you don't place much store on facts and figures even though they give a more accurate picture than one's thoughts and feelings.
So, 10 minutes ago, total deaths attributed to Covid, 4,537,862.
Number of cases 218,739,556
Deaths = just over 2 cases in every hundred. 100% more than the figure you quote. A bit like Russian Roulette but with better odds.
Okay, 1 death in every 50 cases doesn't seem very high but I and most of the people I know don't like those odds. I'm guessing about 200 or so people live in my road. That could equal 4 deaths.
That number hasn't happened mainly due to the socio economic group involved and the general level of self care in the worst of the pandemic and (I'm guessing here) 90% or so double jabbed in the last 6 months.
However I know of at least 10 people in this road who have had it, some very seriously and hospitalised. 2 are still suffering with long covid.
That's just in my small part of the world and is a bit more than the "sniffles" you refer to.
Those figures are not a true picture as countries notorious for with holding true information such as Russia and China (nothing at all from North Korea) will not have given the full figures and many less developed countries where people live in very close groups do not have the ability to give correct information. Inevitably the correct figures should be much higher.
I agree it's down to everyone's choice as to whether or not they are jabbed but I also believe there should be greater emphasis on when or where people can go if not jabbed.
I want to go abroad this autumn and I can guarantee the majority of people on my flights will be double jabbed.
You are correct in saying the majority of cases are now in under 40's. In fact I think the figure is 50% of cases in the under 30 range. Thankfully it appears they don't get it as badly as older people - younger, healthier and more robust lifestyle, but I would add the word YET, to that. The more who get it, the more it will spread in that age group and in time the number of serious cases, deaths and longer term damage will increase.
Going back to the title of this thread, Kieffer, a footballer where it appears he has not been jabbed. Looking at the number of pro footballer positive cases in recent weeks, there are lots like him mostly falling into the under 30 group mentioned above. Due to the bubbles they live in, they think they are indestructible. That will work until one of them gets it badly and, heaven forbid, dies. We may start to see a change of attitude then.
Finally, in the last couple of weeks, one prominent anti vaxer caught it and, sadly, died. Before dying he said he wished he had been jabbed. Also another younger anti vaxer has caught it, is in a bad way, and has said the same thing.
So, you carry on as you are and believe some of the misinformation out there. I prefer to look at facts and figures.
