Hmmm.... not sure Norway. I love Leon but he's well and truly at the tail end of his career and won't play every game imo. He breaks up play better than Ki but we can't fault Ki's distribution today or his overall game. Tough decision to drop him after today - maybe horses for courses and he'll be used when a different tactic is required?
Leon or Ki? (on today's performance) A bloody good selection headache for Monk. Also by not having to run Leon into the ground every game, it might prolong his career for us by a season or two.
Ki scoring that goal could have serious , good repruccisions on Ki's Swansea career. Seemed he was almost happy there for a moment . A lot of positives in this game , Ki scoring is high on the list .
Yes that's a good question after today's game. For me Ki. If Ki can consistently play at this level then Leon has his work cut out for him. Shelvey is going to have to keep it at a high level or it could be Leon and Ki and not Shelvey and Ki.
I heard Ki staying and Pulis' stance meant Jon Williams deal didn't get up and running, the worry now is Pulis has gone so somebody else could get him before window shuts. He missed today's game through injury so hopefully that'll put any suitors off him.
I have stated before that leon is an asset at the club but even he knows that he is coming to the end of his time in top flight football. He will get games but he will be more of a bit part player this season and an excellent back up for anyone in midfield who needs to be subbed during a game...leon is not stupid he knows where his position is at the club and he still has plenty to give even if he is not the leon of old...
IMO we need to keep hold of Leon, Rangel and Williams even Dyer and Tate for as long as possible. They will be needed to maintain the traditions, the heart and the soul of Swansea City. There is always the fear new players coming in will only stay a while and we slowly become a stepping stone club, that will be the case for quite a few players which is why I believe the value of some who have history with us is more than their ability to play every or any game of a season.
Not sure about that, Bob. Shelvey can be an out-and-out matchwinner and has done it on more than a few occasions for us already snce his arrival. Also, Ki and Leon are very similar players in the sense of their roles at least. I certainly don't agree with keeping Tate on, and we're already a stepping stone club. That's just the way it is, unfortunately.
we will always be a stepping stone for certain type of players but we are also a club that is loyal to its players who give good service like for instance tate, trundle and leon. Monk for instance has rightly earned his chance of first being captain then non playing club captain and now manager. Loyalty can bring just rewards and i can see both leon and tate getting some sort of roll at the club just like Curtis, trunds, and monk. we tend to look after legends at Swansea...
But it has to be for the betterment of the Club, Dai. No point in keeping 'legends' on if they can't bring something to the table.
Trundle has been one of the best ambassadors at the club that we have ever had even better than curtis when he had the job and i see this roll for Tate and leon and rangel as future ambassadors. Trundle is working hard on his badges atm and i see him being promoted to the coaching staff at some level next season.
I'd stick up for Curtis on this score - he does train the team alongside others whereas Trundle seemed to have a job invented for him. I may a little off the day to day Swansea events but I don't get what it is Trundle does!
I think it's an informal PR role but I confess I'm not 100% sure. He spends a lot of time running his 'Bar 10' on the Kingsway. Not knocking him for that btw.
Disagree about Leon Dai. He should be given a coaching role at the club, be it with the first team or academy so that he can develop players who are confer able and as accurate on the ball as him.
the ambassador roll is not new, curtis was in that roll for a while even after he was assistant manager the first time around and as for magic daps then anyone who gets the EP on a daily basis can see the amount of work he does on behalf of the club. He is in it nearly every edition representing the club here there and everywhere. he is an excellent PR man...
