Can anyone believe the fee we paid for Fletcher (never mind his fecking Lamborghini wages). I was pilloried at the time we signed the useless c u n t for having the audacity to say we paid £10m too much. Bart
MoN sure knew how to waste money, other peoples that is, a great let down but at the time Steve and Adam looked like the next level, only it was down not up.
I'm not saying that everything Sam does is gold plated with a glacé cherry on top, he has made a few dodgy calls such as bringing on Kirchhoff against Spurs. However I have more faith in him than I have had in one of our managers in a long time, I sincerely believe he is a proper Premier League manager. I think we had a decent team at the start of the season but Dick just wasn't up to it, pun intended, and we were as weak as we have ever been. I think the players Sam has signed will either keep us up or we'll go down fighting, personally I think the former. Most teams have a bad slump at some point in the season and surely we've already had ours.
Good signing this lad as he seems to have a bit of a x factor about him which you need in the Premier League. More impressed with who Sam has shipped out to be honest. If he gets out Fletcher, Rodwell and Roberge by Monday night I am going to send him a Valentines card....lol. Getting in another full back and a striker would be brilliant....I have a feeling that there maybe one or two surprises more by Monday night.....hopefully...
I think we'll be involved in the last day, see who we can get out and get in. I'd like to see a LB and a CM.
Same here mate I'm an Alonso fan too. I think we're too late though he's playing/will be playing in the Chanpions League.
It may not be popular but we desperately need a technically gifted footballer alongside M'Villa . Cattermole isn't good enough….
A lot of the players we've signed in the last five years or so have been two thirds of a Premier League player.
A one footed, one paced, lazy tw*t. Add Johnson and Graham to that and we spunked £25 million……Martin O Neil eh ?
Love Catts but true progression would mean he drops down the pecking order. I'd still love Ki back. Him and M'Vila with Khazri in front would give us an outstanding Midfield. There's enough Physicality in Yann and Khazri to make up for Ki. Plus we'd have all the composure we could ever want in the middle of the park. We could actually play proper football instead of looking like kids in a park.
Alot of people have been saying this recently but I'm really not convinced. PVA's strength is running into space at pace, I don't think his game suits playing in midfield at all. I think he's best utilised as a wing back, and suspect that may be what Sam is angling for if we can get three of our CBs playing at a decent level consistently.
I think ki is a great footballer on his day. But I've watched him 3 times this season and he's been awful! If we stay up and progress then he'd be a great signing. No good for a scrap though. Fwiw I think Cattermole is a much better footballer than most give him credit for. He was out fir a few games earlier this season and mvila was poor in those games. Seemed much more reigned in than when Catts is there. Just a opinion though as you all knowi love Catts
Good shout, although we would need a very good defence to carry Ki and I dont think we are anywhere near atm. The question I am asking myself is what Sam envisages as our best chance of survival ie 3 at the back or a flat back 4, if its the former we still need another CB, to ensure we have a reliable back three to see out the season, if its a back 4 we need a right back. If it was me, I would bring both in to give us the alternative of playing both ways depending on the oppposition.
Catts is a good player and I love the bloke but he's been at the top of his game for while, he's a bottom half Prem player. I want to progress byond that and leave the season on season dog fight. For that to happen our best players need to drop down the pecking order for better players. Chances are we won't get another CM this season and we won't get Yann in the summer so we'll be catapulted back to square one midfield wise so Catts will probably be around a bit yet.
Look at the Business done, It's all set up to bounce between the two systems imo. Why limit ourselves to one system when we now have the squad to choose form too, provided we get an improved rb of course.
