That is absolutely BLOODY BRILLIANT!! My feelings exactly. Players were on a maximum wage of 14 quid a week and like plumber Tom Finney, one of the all time greats, worked mornings before going to the games. Brian Bulless, a great young player, arrived at Fer Ark on his bike, not in a bloody Ferrari with some silicone filled WAG. Hard men who played hard and didn't roll around in feigned agony after an ankle tap. Played on broken legs forChrissake like Jock Davidson, God bless him. Now theres a name!!

Why the hell was I bloody well called Roger. What kind of a name is that. I'm changing it to Sid. <wah>

Cracking post Canada, had me laughing out loud.I suffered in a similar way to you,my dad was called Stanley which people shortened to Stan so he insisted I be named Keith, which cant be shortened. Keith! I ask you was it fair to lumber a working class kid in the forties with a name like that.Fortunately I was given the middle name of Francis after my grandfather, he was always known as Frank so I adopted the same name.

I still remember kids coming to the door asking if Frank was coming out to play and my mother replying "No he isn't, and his names Keith not Frank".Still I should be grateful I suppose two lads I was friendly with were called Robin and Charles, you called them Rob. and Chas. your peril if their mothers were within earshot.Mothers in those days especially northern working class mothers were a special breed, you crossed them at your peril.

More to the point, how would the person who wrote the rant judge it?

I didn't write the article & with the name I had bestowed upon me I have little right to be judging the names of others but as you ask it's only correct that I respond.

I knew a Julian growing up. Went on to be a calendar.

Funny thing is, he was always late for everything.

I also knew a Julian when growing up, he was a mobile butcher who ended up inside for sex crimes. True story.

    It's not Julian. Possibly worse.

Not long. Funnily enough when you Google Julian and "mobile butcher", not too much comes up apart from reports of that case!

I teach a 15 year old called Terry. He is the gingerest kid you've ever met and about 5'ft nothing tall. I call him Tezza. He ****ing hates it. Ah good times.

Aside from that, this Vogt looks the business on paper. Played 50 first team games in the Bundesliga already.

"A host of Premier League clubs are showing an interest in highly-rated German Under-21 international midfielder Kevin Vogt."

Off the SkySports transfer rumours. Looks like we'll have competition if we're interested.
