Kevin Phillips returns to St Marys tomorrow and is very likely going to get Booed due to his comments in the papers. He was reported as saying he shuold not have signed for Southampton. A couple of years ago i read an article by Kevin Phillips and he claimed that what he said and what the media said were very different. Phillips claimed that what he actually said was he didn't want to leave Sunderland. After the way the media has been recently I believe him more than the Media. What do you think?

He's a twat. Blamed the club for his wife having an affair with a mobile phone salesman. Said that playing fo Southampton was the worst experience of his life.

Hopefully plenty of mobile phones will be waving to him from the crowd. He's a complete prick.

I wasnt really a huge football fan when he was with us, so his comments and appearence tomorrow will be just another player to me - i dont even know what he said exactly

The OP has just outlined that the media were probably responsible for distorting KP's comments, and several of the following posters have taken their responses directly from the newspaper distortions or the Chinese whispers that flowed from them.

Whenever I've heard or read things that Philips has said, he's never been that ungrateful, unreasonable, or angry about his time at Saints. In fact, to watch him perform in a Saints shirt was a delight, and he didn't look as though he was anywhere near being cheesed off either. Get a grip, you people. Use your brains and don't be sheep.

Very well said

He's still a tosser. The manner in which he left the club was completely disrespectful. It really left a bitter taste in the mouth. Much like Kenwyne Jones' exit.

Phillips thinks he's better than he is, and acts like some sort of world class striker. I can't stand him. He's a complete twat.

I can't remember many Southampton players that put in as much effort whenever they played as he did. I thought he was a class apart.
For whatever reasons, his marriage fell apart whilst he was down here, that made him unhappy and he doesn't remember his time fondly. In all the games I saw him play he never let that reflect in his performance.
That to me is the very essence of professionalism. I for one will not boo him and would suggest that anyone who is still angry enough SIX YEARS later about some percieved offence he may or may not have caused, to get so irrate that they have to boo or shout abuse, is in fact the real twat.

Indeed.

Oh give me a break. I've got my reasons to dislike him. Same as you've got whatever reasons to like him...

I wont be booing him but in my opinion, he's a prick.

<applause> everyone has their own opinion, I think he's a twat aswell.

I think phillips is a f***ing legend. He was great for us, and is great now. Top player and every interview i've seen he has come across really well.

That's your opinion, my opinion is people are to easy to call people legends. Le Tiss was a legend so was Ted Bates.
Phillips doesn't come close to either of them.

Imagine when the fans realise that Brett is there too, the 'She Shagged Brett Ormerod' song will be interesting for Phillips :-D
