I am one of few toon fans who actually has faith in Ashley and what he's doing.

The wage cap is necessary, its only been put in place and the very first ****ing two of our current crop to be offered a new contract under it reject said contracts. This leaves us with 1 option, get rid while they're worth money.

Yes, Barton is an awesome player but he's 28 now and by no means irreplaceable. Nolan is also getting on and is far from irreplaceable so I can't see what the problem is.

If they need to move on for the greater good of the club then so ****ing be it, I wish some of our fans would stop living in the past where we'd throw ridiculous money at everything because we aren't in a situation where we can buy success.

Completely agree with you there mate. These two are hardly rewriting the history of Newcastle so they shouldn't be exceptions to what if probably a very frugal wage structure. Good to see Ashley is actually taking ownership and running the club like a business.

As I said above mate, this seems like the logical step forward, but Amsterdam Roger made the point for me:

Its a risk we're going to have to be willing to take if we want to restructure, but its a risk nonetheless!
