Discussion in 'Newcastle United' started by 5 Goals 1 Hat Trick 11 Heroes-NUFC4LIFE, Jun 15, 2011.

?

Is the Nolan deal good business or madness?

  1. It is a discrace

  2. I'm very disappointed, but worse things could happen

  3. Its seems not bad business, due to Nolan Attributes

  4. Its a good deal!

I'm probably in the minority, but this is where Joey should just keep his mouth shut. And if he's claiming these players will now leave then perhaps he and Nolan have far too much influence on the players and this move is right for the club.

No player is bigger than Newcastle United Football Club.

It's not the brightest move ever, even if we are hoping to replace him with improved players I would rather have Nolan on the bench to come on and bolster a midfield than the unproven players we are buying in - and before I get the "Unproven? UNPROVEN?" rant followed by a load of statistics I will say we have bought a fair few flops over the years who came with fantastic stats.

It's very risky why do it now why not wait until we're sure? 5 mill won't seem like such a bargain when we discover all our summer signings are rubbish and we can't score a goal, morale has dropped to an all time low and we have no captain.

Risky, and it has an argument for both sides, if Nolan drops out of the first team we'll never get 5 mill for him could be the best chance to do it. If our signings don't make the cut we'll be kicking ourselves, if our signings are half as good as we hope he probably won't get in the side. If he's as important to the dressing room as has been said then I'd be inclined to keep him, isn't that why Butt hung around for so long?

There have been a few teams recently that seem to lack a real captain and it shows. I personally would like to see him stay just a little longer until we know we can cope without, but the 5 mill might come in handy...except haven't we still got a fair bit in the bank from hewhoshallnotbenamed?

Sholas a near 30 centre forward, likely on low wages and unlikely to be attractive to another club. He's a handy backup and will see out his career here, much like 'loyal' Harper but with far more appearances. West Ham have offered a fee for Nolan, hence we're selling him.

Got to admit that after a bit of knee jerk at first, the more I think about it the better it sounds, if he goes for £5M then we haven't spent a penny of the Judas cash and hopefully will get in the players we need to move forward

Not overly concerned by him being sold.

EXTREMELY worried about the reaction of other players, Barton has already hinted it by saying '#mejoseandjonasnext'

Why do we seem eager to sell the core players that sent us up?!
