    Anyone remember that interview Nolan gave last year (I think it was then), he knew that his time here would be limited given his ability, and conceded that he would rather move on once he would no longer be good enough to make the first team?

    In my honest opinion we'll probably sign Craig Gardner as a replacement. If we get 5 million for Nolan and Gardner costs us 5 himself i think it a good piece of business. Lets face it Nolan isnt getting any younger and Gardner is only 24. Gardner scored 10 goals last season and has much better movement than nolan so i think the leadership quality we loose is made up for with actual footalling quality.

    I'd give Taylor the captaincy and let him run with it, but I don't think theres any issue around giving the armband to a 'non-English' player though, as much as we keep hearing about team spirit (read: Nolan making everyone listen to ****ing Deacon Blue) I find it hard to believe that its only the English lads who help keep the team together. Certainly wouldn't object to Coloccini as vice captain.

    I'm of this opinion too.

    Yeah he'll be a loss to the dressing room and he did bag us a few goals but we need to start moving forward.

    Sounds as though he was offered a contract and he turned his nose up at it. Too long have players held this club to ransom over contracts/ wages.
