?

Is the Nolan deal good business or madness?

  1. It is a discrace

  2. I'm very disappointed, but worse things could happen

  3. Its seems not bad business, due to Nolan Attributes

  4. Its a good deal!

I'm going to elaborate on my there's so much ****e in this comment.

Firstly, I think it's a certainty that he was a popular figure in the dressing room and kept spirits up and was a true leader. I can't see that being up for debate at all. However I do agree that he brings little other than goals and leadership which is not enough if we sign a good striker.

I also feel it is a position we do have numbers and I agree that if the time comes that we are competing with West Ham again, Nolan will be past his sell by date.

Danny Guthrie is a cracking player, don't make stupid comments based on nothing!

You can't say at least Gosling has the stamina to finish games when he hasn't played in over a year. Although i do feel if we can get him fit he will be a good player.

Cabaye is unproven, and signing foreign players doesn't always work out, Hugo Viana is a prime example of a CM not settling. I play with my mates and find it a much easier game than Sunday League, they're both football but it's different. Having said that I think he'll do well.

Scott Parker is a class player to be fair but that isn't relevant, we do have a good youth system, but we need the players like Vuckic to start getting game time otherwise it's pointless having good young players.

HAHAHAHAHA ive never read anything so ridiculous in my life, your one of the morons i was adressing with this topic.

Danny Guthrie forcing ANYONE out of a team with his play is RIDCICULOUS, guthrie is an ok back up player nothing more, caybe has just won the french league and been a major contributor to that win, hes a french international...how many goals did he core in lilles championship season...was it 2 by any chance???, is guthrie an english international??? has guthrie ever won anything??? has guthrie done anything to warrant any sort of appreciation apart from maybe 3 good passes and one goal against leicester???

    GET REAL

your trying to make yourself look good and make me look bad and you might have suceeded if you werent so thick, as it stands its just embarrising, must try harder.

Just because many of us think losing Nolan is a blow, it doesn't mean we're thick. I think most of us know that he's not the most technically gifted player, and his goals can be replaced, but the guy was a great leader for us and led by example. I'll always be grateful to him for the work he's put in on and off the pitch over the last 2 seasons.

This news I would class at worst as a hinderance to Newcastle, fair enough he is our captain, but he was a top goal scorer in a team with practically no strikers!. Most people wanted to have him playing in a super-sub role next season, so this transfer is no way indicative of where our ambitions are.

Ashley and Pardew were probably thinking Nolan was asking to much money for someone who has one more quality season left in him, and Nolan probably didnt want to stay if he wasnt guaranteed first team football, as he is approaching the twighlight period of his career....

Hopefully this maybe signifies a new generation of Newcastle although I accept change can be scary, but one mans lose is anothers gain, hopefully players like Cabaye, Gosling,Vuckic and Ben arfa can step up to the mark!

Also the club may have prepared for this, it seems it was no coincidence that Newcastle have stepped up there interest quite publicly in the goalscoring midfielder that is Craig Gardner.

    hahahahaha

how can you expect me to respect your opinion when you come out with stuff like that??? wow, complete moron, how many of you are actually this thick??

seriously my topic was a bit cheeky but i diddnt expect to be validated so strongly, i expected maybe an intellectual backlash with people proving their opinions matter and are respectable...all i got was some lame insults and people ****ting all over themselves, priceless.

    OK

Fair point my spelling needs a bit of work and i should have re-read and corrected my statement, your completely right this is the only criticism so far in this topic i can actually agree with.

Im very reasonable, if im wrong im wrong and ill hold my hands up but people saying Scott Parker is class just takes the cake, utter idiocy.

If Barton goes I'll worry a bit... a midfield of

    Barton Cabaye Tiote Jonas

will get goals but I'd like the Zog in and Barton to fight Cabaye for a place.

So he was judged on scoring goals? Isn't that what a striker is meant to do? Also, I'm pretty sure that the season after he left United he was the top scorer in La Liga, so again your argument is flawed.

I replied with a series of points about you're thread, and you take the one point i even specified as irrelevant. Parker is an England international who is currently in the starting 11, he has Tottenham(a team who were in the Champions League last season) incredibly interested in signing him.

You keep calling people thick because they don't agree with your pathetic opinions. You need to grow up and learn the English language.

    You're an idiot.

After a couple of hours I'm thinking that the sale of Nolan is understandable, but selling Barton would mean a step down imo.

As NUFC.com put it, we wouldn't want Nolan to become a liability to the wagebill like Smith. It's best we remember him for his 2.5 year stint. He's a legend and will always be fondly remembered for being the leader of the the 2009/10 Championship winning team and for his delightful hattrick against the mackems. Perhaps its better that our memory of him wont get ruined by later, more lethargic seasons where he is just a hanger on
