If Southampton hadn't been playing in their away kit he would probably have spotted red and white stripes then produced a red card as he was being carried away. If Kevin Friend is one of the elite English referees then we need more immigration to bring in a few who can do the job properly.
Pat Partridge (from Billingham) and Clive Thomas (from somefuckingwhere in Wales) were well respected referees from 'years gone by' . . . . respected by fans, I mean, because they were good at doing what they were supposed to be doing - officiating fairly (I remember those times)
Clive Thomas George Courtney Keith Hackett. They`re the only ones I can remember. Possibly because they also did internationals. Otherwise fairly anonymous. Certainly not the stars of the show for getting things wrong.
