Noticed on the BBC site that Derek is interested in bringing him back to Ashton Gate and is facing competition from Cardiff. Would this be a good move and what sort of impression did he make first time around?

personally my self i'd rather we bring McManus and Bikey in, wouldn't cost us 1 million and we can get 2 players who we know are capable of improving our team
I would prefer Keogh than Bikey (Amougou) who has temperament problems. Age wise, Keogh is a better option than McManus even considering the difference in fees (£1m versus £150k). And reading between the lines in SL's comment about players holding us to ransom on wages, could it be McManus that he is talking about? And Bikey's wage demands are probably in the same sphere as McManus.
So Keogh could be more cost effective than the other two but also with good experience for a 25 year old and most of his career ahead of him.

I thought he was a great young player who had plenty of potential but GJ wouldnt play him and when his contract came up he wasnt interested in signing a new contract so left.
However I wouldnt pay the money that they want for him when we could buy someone like Zak Whitbread who is a very good centre back who would be perfect for our club and is current clubless after being released by Norwich.

Never rated Keogh,seemed hot headed and temperamental,may be he has grown up a bit.never had pace either.
Regards Bikey and Macmanus think both are better at this stage of their careers.
Keogh was decent during his last stay with us but certainly not million pound material. I would get Macmanus.
But McManus could be asking for a helluva lot in wages. Hence the Lansdown comment and so DMc looking elsewhere. Remember, the transfer fee for a player now at Championship level is probably only a very small percentage of the total cost when you factor in salary!
In a similar vein, I saw a comment from Scunthorpe manager Alan Knill about Ribs - he'd like to sign him but he thought his wage demands could put Ribs out of reach. Strange isn't it. Get the boot from a team that finished 20th in Championship and perhaps still expect to get Championship wages at a club from the lower half of Div One. Not logical is it.

Fully agree with the first bit about Keogh, was disappointed to see him go but not about the last sentence - there is usually a reason why these players are let go...
surely the first bit of your sentence will sometimes explain the last sentence.

Zak Whitbread was a key player for Norwich when they got promoted as he gave them leadership at the back and was good in the air and on teh ground but like a lot of newly promoted championship teams they brought in new players and he didnt get as much football and I guess his contract was up for renewal and either he wanted first team football and left or Norwich had enough centre defenders and felt they needed to cut the size of their squad. I guess there could be many reason.
My main point was at this level I dont think you need to spend money on transfer fees unless there is someone has has a little somthing extra. We have been a club who has very raley ever made a profit on any players and maybe that is why other clubs may have progressed further than we have. You only have to look at Newcastle in the last few years they have done really well buying players at a very low price and then selling them for stupid money which is now paying off most of their debt.
