I feel it is an error to sell Kenny. Why do people believe Green is that much better?! HE WAS A CHAMPIONSHIP KEEPER LAST YEAR!! They didn't even win the league!! The year before, Kenny had 24 clean sheets.....how many did Green get last season?! No where near that.

Also, let's not forget.... A keeper will always look suspect if he has a dodgy defence i.e Gabbidon , Hall, in front of him.

Either way, I feel that this move will potentially bite us on the 'arris.

That's not a bad argument a'tall Newbury. Kenny was nowhere near as bad as some made out. And yes, Green is far from perfect himself.

My own position is that Kenny is just not the right physical shape to cut it at the very top. Green, at least, has himself in top condition and Sparky seems to rate him.

I don't understand why he went. Surely it's still better to play for a prem club than a Championship team. Oh well, thanks for everything Paddy, I suppose you are off to a massive club though.

Think you've answered your own question nines. Leeds are a massive club and in warnock, they have one of the best managers in the country....

Swords, that is defo one quality that Green has over Kenny. BUT, I think body shape can be over-rated.

Their are always players that have been digged over their weight (Matt Le Tissier, Gazza, Frank Lanpard etc( but have all shown that skill can surpas this issue.

Now, before I get slated for picking world class players and comparing to Paddy Kenny.......remember a certain keeper who played for Everton in the 80's and 90's? Well, defo not an athlete, but one helluva keeper.

Anyhoo, Paddy has now gone.....big shame, let's just hope that Green can rise to the challenge.

I think we had Paddy at his best in our promotion season, Leeds may well find him in decline but thanks and the best of luck...

That's true Newbury. Kevin Pressman wasn't too bad either and he DID eat all the pies!

Hopefully Green will do the business.

Paddy has gone via the back door in a week that has seen a lot of positives. Paddy Kenny IMO was nothing but outstanding for this club.
If I have any moans then I would have liked a vid on the OFF to celebrate his service here. I was hoping he would stay as Green is the only new player I am not totally convinced with. I do not share the opinion that the current crop of England goalkeepers are that good compared to other European countries ... Rob Green will have to earn his stripes with me.

Paddy Kenny was a brilliant shot stopper and will be sadly missed in my household.

I don't think anyone has that view Oddball. Hart is a good keeper but the rest are very average.

You are ****ting me .. there are plenty on here that think that now we have England's number two we are safe and strong. England have the wrong football ethic and without foreign players we are in short sub-standard now get on my hippy thread you grumpy cross dresser

If they think that then they're deluded. And you are totally right about the foreign players. If we put proper coaching schools in operation now, teaching lads to love the ball the way they do on the Continent/Sth America, then we'd reap the benefit in the years to come. Just like Spain have. They set up academies all across the Country a generation ago and they're now reaping what they sowed.
