Kennwyn again

Discussion in 'Sunderland' started by Steven Royston O'Neill, Dec 24, 2011.

  1. Selling Kenny was a big mistake for you lot.

Kenny and Bent made a fantastic partnership. Kenwyne the target man that could nock them down and assist Bent, the quick, pacey striker.

Kenwyne Jones may not be amazingly prolific goal scoring wise, but I think he got like 10 goals and 10 assists for you. He does his job.

That would be a great signing for you if you got Gyan back. I've always rated Jones, he has beasty pace for a big bloke and great strength and aerial presence. Lord knows why Crouch gets a game over him.

    -------------Jones------------Gyan----------------

    -Larsson-----------------------------------Sessegnon

    -------------Vaghan---------Cattermole--------------

Gardner would come on as an impact sub and perhaps score a goal.

That's a good team, one that should be pushing for top 10 <ok>

    Spot on mate, IMO.

People underestimate that even when Kenny was doing nowt, he still had oppo defenders pre-occupied.

  3. Same as Ibravimovic. He may be a bit in-active at times, but he does his job.

Ha, I understand the point your making, and agree, but I think Ibra shades it ;)

BB/MoN Mush - I'm not saying we need Zamora either but he is a better player than KJ imo.

He uses his size and strength better, stays on his feet, is a great target man winning more than his fair share of high balls, links play better and can score goals (not lots but then he too is a 10 goal a season forward as well). Zamora is a total team player too, unlike Jones who wouldnt play with Cisse and fell out with Bent - thats why he was flogged. Add to that the fact that Zamora will work his arse off chasing down defenders and keepers (which the lazy bugger form Stoke never does) and you have at least 10 times the player.

There is this great myth that everything fell apart when he left but I dont buy it. He failed at SAFC and he has failed at Stoke. His next step will be the championship where he belongs imo. KJ would be a massive step backwards for SAFC imo. I also dont rate Fletcher that highly either. Can anyone explain why exactly would we covet a player that cant even get into a relegation threatened Wolves team? Plus, is he really better than Frazier Campbell who may well be ready for action in the next 3 or 4 weeks?

    Pavlyuchenko - YES
    Defoe - YES
    Andy Johnson - YES
    Zamora - wouldnt be disappointed

Wasting big money on no-hopers or failures - NO

Like I said, Zamora ain't the bees knees but he is vastly superior to KJ imo, so how far down the scale that puts him in my eyes is pretty evident I'd suggest.

Just my opinion though lads. Lol

Craic is though Cest, when Kenwyne went, Bent scored less.

    This is a fact mate.

Kenwyne was a presence, and we haven´t had one since, don´t get me wrong, i´m not saying we should go for Kenwyne above all others, we do need a big man with a bit about him, but Zamora certainly ain´t it.

I´d go all out for Gignac, but the fact that Stoke may want to shift KJ, and the fact they still owe us the thick end of 4million, means it may be an easy deal, at a time when we need to plug a few gaps.

If effectively Kenwyne is 4million, and Zamora is 8million, I make that a no brainer.

I´ve always fancied Pav, and think he´d be fantastic for us, i´d absolutely take Defoe.

    Andy Johnson is ****e.

We´ll trust MON, i still have a sneaky feeling Agbonlahor may be a target.

I'm sorry but this thread has just become ridiculous. Mentioning Ibrahimovic and Kenwyne Jones in the breath is like saying Cava is the same as Moet.

KJ is a failed former Sunderland player and soon to be failed Stoke City player who will more than likely go back to the championship. Ibrahimovic is a top quality international striker that has played for 3 or 4 of the biggest clubs in world football.

HMT - would you be happy if Pardew sold Ba and bought KJ then if you rate him so highly?

    Mmmmm. Thought not.

Kenwyne Jones - the only man who could trap a ball further than he could kick it.

    This is actually true, haha.

Remember his debut tho, v Southampton i think, turn, lovely touch and smash in the corner from edge of the box!

For that tho, add 137 one-on-ones missed, but it´s his presence that i feel we miss.

I wasn't suggesting that Ibra and Kenny were in the same league at all. But they are similar in the sense that they don't have to work very hard to be effective on the pitch.

And what as the point of that question? Would I be happy if we sold Ba for KJ? No, just because I rate Kenny, doesn't mean I think he's amazing. He's a good player to have in your squad.

I'd definitely swap him for any of our other strikers though.

A Johnson isn't ****e btw. Thats not fair at all.

I personally dont want Zamora especially at that silly money, or Jones for free and I feel MoN already has 2 big target men in Bendtner and Wickham, the latter for whom he seems to have already made big noises about. What we lack is a pacy striker.

I'd be very happy with Agbonlahor kidda. Very, very happy and for 2 main reasons.

    1) He is a cracking young striker with pace to die for and would be good playing off our two big lads.

    2) It would mean Judas will be even more isolated and miserable at his current big club Villa, only without the Frog 1 who signed him, Downing, Young and then Agbonlahor, all the people he so ungraciously said were so much better players than he had been playing with.

PS - it goes wothout saying I trust MoN 100% to make the right decisions and if he says its to be KJ then so be it mate. I'll swing with it and get behind him.

I thin k Agbonlahor would be cracking mate, we know MON likes pace, we no Gabby is a bit pissed off at not being first choice, I reckon we´ll test it.

Imagine having Gabby and Frazier up top? Pace would torment many..

But thats exactly what you were trying to do, make comparisons.

The only thing both players have in common is the fact they breathe the same air. Anything else is totally different.

PS - cant believe you'd swap the 2 Amadonkey brothers, Leon 'Pele' Best or Peter 'Gert Muller' Lovenkrands for KJ? I thought you all had the best squad in the world?

I wouldnt swap KJ for Wickham, Bendtner, Campbell, Ji or Noble (who has never really played in the EPL yet).

    Okay, maybe Ji then. Lol

If O'Neill can get him to play at central defence, fine. If not, then no thanks. The bottom line is we need a goal scorer and Kenwyne couldn't hit a barn door with a Sherman tank.

That goal was against Reading. A stunning debut goal from the laidback trinidadian

For a so-called lazy git, he didn't half get back and defend well along with leading the front line...
