There is always the rather mundane possibility that Roy only wants one older centre back & just doesn't rate Rio as much as Terry. That he believes Both together would be an unacceptable risk of further injuries in the same position (already blighted with bad injury luck) during the tournament when it's too late. That wouldn't suit the PC brigades soap box agenda or Rios image of himself as a martyr on a cause but it's as likely as all the other alternatives being shoveled out. People may not agree with Roys ratings but hey ask a LFC fan if you ever understood his decision making processes when he was our manager!

Ive already apologised for saying you guys were wrong over roy This isnt me bad mouthing Kelly btw, just showing that Roys excuse of footballing reasons doesnt stand up at all when we look at Rios performance and contribution last season.
Sorry mate must have missed it lol. I think a few of us on here agree about Kelly. We all think he has the potential to be great in either position but not for this tournament but the boy can only go out & play if given the opportunity. I would like to hope that once on the pitch in the national shirt even United fans would cheer him on. As for Rio/Terry it almost seems fitting that this overhyped spoilt golden generation are going out under a dark cloud rather than triumphant hurrah. I actually kind of hope (won't happen) Terry is used as back up & not needed in the tournament. I honestly find him a deeply unpleasant man, epitomizing everything wrong with modern footballers with their sense of ego & entitlement. So we're down to Gerrard & Cole to drag some respectability out that generation. I hope they do if allowed by events. And then pray the new lot can move on afterwards.
