Don't care about stats tbh.

He has a few dodgy moments and not yet convinced he's the best long term option but he's miles ahead of what we've got and definitely more authoritative which makes a big difference I think.

Difference is night and day, it really is. I said it on the match thread, but the communication he has with the defence is impressive. It's played a huge part in our defensiveness upturn. Of course, its hard to tell whether its solely him, the back 4, or new full backs but I suspect its a combination of all factors.

If he can improve with the ball at his feet, we've got a fantastic all round keeper.

Don't feel every corner is a chance to concede which is a step up (and I was in the bazunu over mccarthy camp - though I concede being better than poor can still be poor). His short passing is woeful though.

it might be confirmation bias on my part but it feels like the defence aren't sitting quite so deep when defending crosses because they trust him more to deal with it.

Peretz is definitely a clear upgrade. I am still firm in my Baz over McCarthy opinion but you see a more confident defence with a vocal keeper behind them.

It doesn't really matter now but I still find it baffling that anyone thinks Baz is better than Alex tbh. I don't even think it's particularly close.
McCarthy was total dogshit in the games he came in for earlier in the season.

In honesty, I wasn’t really as concerned as others about the GK situation and thought Baz got a harder time than deserved, but now Peretz has come in it couldn’t be more apparent how bad our situation actually was. He’s definitely not scared to take a risk & sometimes that doesn’t pay off and not amazing with his feet, but I’d much rather someone who isn’t scared to be commanding in the box and fail 1/10 times than someone too scared to ever come for crosses, clashing into forward players and put his body on the line. Also, his communication and clear leadership at the back has been a breathe of fresh air and would say he’s arguably as vocal as Rambo, even maybe more so. Clear upgrade and hopefully he can grow in confidence & be a key player next season

Agree - welington has been excellent the last games. Things just feel like they are starting to click again. Downes being in form too has been a good step up

Yeah this is where I sit I think. Who knows if Baz would’ve looked better behind a back 4/we weren’t giving away stupid chances every game/allowing shots from distance as we didn’t have the extra man further forward.

He didn’t have a save to make today, whether that was because of his organisational ability or because we didn’t let them have a chance due to players further up the pitch who knows. But clearly has improved since he’s come in.

The Pompey equaliser was **** by him, he is definitely not as good with the ball at his feet as Baz, but yeah happy enough with him.

Think it’s very unlikely he’s here next season, much more likely Baz is number 1 again, but most likely is a new number 1
